I am looking for 4 tyres for VW Polo (175/65 13)
(Thats because of new NCT regulation about E mark on tyres, otherwise my tyres are good for atleast another 6-8 months  )

    Atlas Tyres Quote:
    Firestone - €70 each
    Fedral - €60 each

    Fastfit Quote:
    Firestone - €60
    Roadstone - €55

    Keane Christy Saggart Ltd
    Hankook - €50
    Fedral - €45

I am not sure which one is better, I mean firestone, roadstone or Hankook.

Is there anywhere else I can get them any cheaper?

Have you checked your existing tyres? Unless you have some of the cheap Chinese or Korean tyres then nearly all tyres sold here have an E marking for a number of years afaik.

Also get a price from www.camskill.co.uk and allow an extra €60 to have them fitted locally.

TBH, Im thinking tyres that dont have this marking are pretty dodgy. Nankang & many other budget tyres have this marking for years. Tyre sellers must have been making a killing selling these non marked tyres

Yes I have checked. Rear tyres are fines. The front tyres are Optima but the makring is M something.

I will have a look at camskill. Thanks.

Its not a dodgy type. These are Optima tubeless tyres (Front tyres that dont have E marking).

If they dont have the mark, there is something dodgy about them.

Keanes in Saggart are one of the cheapest in Dublin, also try Thorntons on South Circular Rd (James Hospital end)

Are you sure the E mark isn't on the other side of the tyre (facing towards the wheel arch)? This is the case on some tyres.

Firestone tyres are meant to be very good for budget tyres btw. They're Bridgestone's budget brand.

Hankook and Federal are both mid-range tyres with a decent reputation. If Keane's prices include fitting and balancing I reckon that's a good price for tyres worthy of a Polo.

Try http://www.eiretyres.com/ Coincidentally, I was looking on there yesterday for same size tyres for the same car (my fathers).

I will try to go down under the car in the evening to have a look. :D

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes Keanes price include fitting and you are right, I am yet to find a place where I can find Hankook cheaper if you add the fitting seperately.

As I said before they have M mark, which is fine for UK.

If you see Eiretyres website you will see lots of tyres listed with M marking.

    Hankook Optimo with M marking

As far as Im aware & from your link, those tyres are M&S marked which means mud and snow. All tyres offered for sale in Eu must have the E mark though so I dont see how the M mark is relevant at all. Hankook tyres should be good so it is a possibility that these tyres have come from a market outside of EU?

No they did not come from outside EU.

I am no expert in tyres, did not even know what M&S means, thanks for that :)

I thought they were Marks&spencers tyres.

Would you say that all Pirelli tyres have the E mark on them? 3 out of 4 of mine do but the 4th doesn't. I did consider that it could be on opposite side but haven't checked yet.

Same problem on my Dads car except all 4 so far, can't believe it, tyres are less than 2 years old and you would think a reputable brand. I must check the inside of them but I am assuming it's the same. Perhaps they were part of some dodgy grey market import in to the country and not destined for the EU market?

Thats exactly it I would say, perfectly good tyres but manufactured for a none EU market.
A local garage sold me a couple of tyres like this a few years ago. In fairness to him, he pointed out that they were not Eu approved & the price did reflect this. This was long before anyone took any notice of the E mark.
