    Hi Guys

I have downloaded radio stations from the App Store for free, like FM104 etc.

I have been told that when I go into this app on my phone to listen to the radio i get charged or it eats into my 2gb data internet bundle, is this true?

    Kindest Regards
    RG

Yep. These apps stream radio over the internet, they don't receive it over the airwaves like a traditional radio. The iPhone has no FM radio functionality.

If you have a 2GB data bundle, don't worry about it. Unless you have it on for hours every day, it won't have much effect.

Yes if using 3G, no if using a WiFi hotspot.

    Thanks for your replies.

Only got the iphone yesterday and it's so addictive. So any app I take from the App Store, I am charged for when I use it.

Im just anxious not to have a massive bill and the end of the month.

    :)

The app store only charges you when you buy an app that isn't free.

You don't get charged to use an app, unless it involves using a lot of data on the 3G network which isn't covered by your data bundle.

But as suggested above, unless you are using your iPhone radio apps for more than a hour a day - every day of the month - you won't go near exceeding your 2GB data allowance, and therefore it won't cost you a cent to use. :)

Keep an eye on how much data you use/have left by calling this number as if you were making a call (you should save it as a favourite):

    *111#

(sorry - O2 users only for that number!)

    lol no
no charge for any Internet related stuff,
you sound like an average user, so don't worry about using up your data allowance, im a heavy user and dont even come near using it !!

    enjoy !

No charges unless you go over your data usage limit. Skype will charge you for certain calls, not O2 etc.

    dont confuse it,
skype to skype will be free

RG if your with o2 this fee app will keep track of your allowances, so no nasty surprises end of the month !!

If it was in the 4.0 OS - it would have been mentioned as a "tentpole".

Here's hoping it'll be a sweetener for people thinking about the next handset.
