display problem on Advent 4211

hi, I had plugged a large external monitor into my laptop, changed the screen to the monitor, and now, when its back to displaying on the laptop, the window is larger than the screen and I have to scroll up and down. Is there any way to restore default settings or correct this? thanks

control panel->display-> change to a lower resolution.
If win7 it will show the lcd native resoltion so choose that.
