    Hey

Anyone know offhand what the best price for an Insignia cdti 2.0 sri version.
    with no trade in.

i got one or two and wanted to check around the country.

was goin to trade in a focus 07 zetec connection, but as i will need a 2nd car from june, maybe its best to keep focus (even tho im not sure i need a 2nd car that big) and buy the insignia or avensis type care outright...

any thoughts if anyone on here is a sales man or garage worker?

SRi 130 should be yours for around €28,000 + extras. 160 for around €500 more.

Does it specifically have to be the SRi? For some reason there is no ecoFLEX version of the SRi so it's €302 to tax. All the other specifications are now €156 to tax so the SRi could suffer come resale time. SE should be slightly cheaper as there is a little more margin on them due to the lower VRT.

We bought our Insignia SRi, cdti (160) from Joe Duffy Motors on the North Road, and got a good deal on it.

They seem to have a few in stock, so no harm contacting them.

    Never trust a salesman :D

According to the Opel Price list from January 2010 the SRi is only available with the standard diesel engine (5dr models are 0JS68Mo6S for the 130 & 0JS68MQ6S for the 160). All other models have the standard engine as well as the ecoFLEX model version listed - same RRP but different VRT rates. There may have been a newer list issued since I got this on the 23rd December which no one has told me about, but Carzone doesn't list an eco SRi either.

If you call Joe Duffy on the North Road, ask for Geoff. He knows his stuff about the Insignia. I think he may also be on boards here too, if you want to PM him.

Pretty sure Geoff is on the other side of the road now, hawking ze German FWD cars.

Ah, right. Worth a try. A good salesman though and he knows his cars. Not just a job for him.

That would be a pretty decent price for a member of the public. Obviously us special people get them for less than that :D

Got to let the poor dealer make money from somewhere - so they can continue to give them away to fleets:p

ha ha.. two of my mates have Insignia as fleet company cars :)

not sure, took a few other cars for tests today, and as much as i like the insignia, some of the options today, i really like too, and are better deals..

would normally not take a present of a Renault due to problems with two older cars we had, but the new fluence top spec model, is a nice drive and superb spec... also the new Qashqai has nice top end spec aswell..

was going to change to Kuga Titanium last year, and took it again today and liked it but no low road tax... new avensis strata, is another one with high end spec..

so my mind is worse now.. dont know what to do... :0

I had a customer with this problem the other day. He didnt and still doesnt know what car he wants.

The Kuga is a nice bus - 630e to tax for the year. In saying that, you'd get a 2.0TDCi Zetec cheaper than an 2.0CDTi SE Insignia at the minute. A new 1.5DCi SVE Qashqai would be a decent car too - and there will be a fairly strong residual on this too, so that might be worth considering.

I was never a fan of the new Avensis - I think its dull and boring to drive and look at. The new Fluence while its cheap, its horrible to look at, and will suffer from sh1te residuals. It will be worth buttons in a few years.

If it was my decision, I'd take the hit for the slightly higher tax on the Kuga.

I've been driving a Superb 2.0TDi 170bhp all week, and it really is a damn good car. Even though it's been thrashed about with the ugly stick, I could put up with that for the space, specification and power. Might be worth condsidering.

But, it is ugly as hell.

Yeah, a nice drive, loads of space inside, and nice features ... but ugly.

You know, I don't notice how ugly it is as I relax in the hugely comfortable drivers seat, wafting past lesser cars with ease while it sips fuel ;)

The new Avensis is a VERY lazy effort by Toyota, it's as if they decided that they could never even hope to compete against the Mondeo or Passat and therefore decided they couldn't be arsed at making it any good, besides with the amount of delusion Toyota owners suffer from would it even matter to those that buy it if Toyota made any effort at producing a good car(sure as long as it's reliable who cares:rolleyes:)?

The interior wouldn't pass quality standards in the US, it feels as though it will come apart tomorrow, it is obviously incredibly dull inside and out, I'm reliably informed it is "exactly the same" as the old car to drive which means it will get blown about in crosswinds, it has ultra light steering completely devoid of feedback and just a general sense that Toyota are trying to isolate the driver completely from what's happening on the road. I don't expect it to drive like a sports car but would it really have killed Toyota to have given it meatier steering and provided more feedback?

Surprisingly for a car with only 16 inch wheels(which look like wheelbarrows with the massive gap between the wheels and the arches, it's more like a builders van that way) and "special suspension settings for Ireland"(more like salesman bullcrap to me) it is very poor at dealing with bumps and is amazingly fidgety on motorways and dual carriageways, it finds imperfections that other cars don't.

In its favour is the 2.0 diesel is very responsive and it is commendably quiet, no doubt it will hold its value and Toyota aftersales is the best of any make, but the reason it is 5,000 cheaper than an Insignia with similar spec is because it cost Toyota about 5,000 less to make, the Insignia is in a completely different league as the looks and the massive step up in interior presentation and quality will tell you.

I love the Skoda Superb as well, definitely test drive one of these OP, the spec in some of these is incredible, some of them have a self parking feature, it has a fantastic interior not just in space but it feels like a quality item.

I say either the Insignia or the Superb OP.

I think there is a new Mondeo coming soon, well there certainly is a new S-Max and Galaxy on the horizon so it shouldn't be long before there is a new Mondeo.

Minor facelift on the Galaxy and S-Max, and new engine line up for MY 10.5 on these and the Mondeo.

Current Mondeo only arrived in late 07 so it will be a while before we see a new model. Couple of refresher to the face and interior to come yet if the last couple of models are anything to go by.

Sorry, when I said "new" I really meant facelifted:o, I heard there will be 3 different output 2.0 diesels(no more 1.8), and all will be in VRT band B:)!
