Stammering

I am currently in my last year of college and I cant seem to stop stammering. When I was younger I had a really bad stammer but I went to a speech therapists and it pretty much cleared it up. Like I wouldn’t stammer once in 6 months then I would stammer three or four times a week then I wouldn’t stammer again for another few months. I used to be able to know a word I stutter on and I would replace it with another word that I could pronounce so basically I would plan out what I was going to say before I said it.

But this year it as gotten really bad where I would stammer anywhere from 10-20 times a day and my old coping mechanism has failed me as I now panic on the word I know I wont be able to pronounce and cant think of a other way of saying it. Like im pretty sure its down to me being stressed due to it being my last year in college and the work load that comes with it. Like I have given four presentations this year and only in one I stammered a lot but the reason behind that was I hadn’t practiced what I was going to say and was winging it. Its very embarrassing and I am very aware of it so I am anxious when I am speaking but then again I do ring up customer support, taxi companies or ask people in public for directions or something but what it does stop me doing is approaching girls I like :P

Today when I went into get something signed I stammered on one word thus resulting in the guy behind the desk saying “I cant understand you” which really got me. I would go to a speech therapists but I am way to busy at the moment with assignments then I wont be in the country for a the summer so the earliest time I can go is September. So is there anything I can do in the mean time?

It's your last year of college, which you're very near the end of, i would imagine it's like you said stress related, once college is over i wouldn't be surprised if this issue sorted itself out. You'll be able to relax over the summer and see if this does work itself out. If not then definately go seek some professional help as soon as you can.
