....I found out today that my subject choices didn't go to plan:(
I got my first three preferences (French, Economics and Physics) but my last subject couldn't be filled as my 4th 5th and 6th choices were on the same time as the 1st 2nd and 3rd (How unlucky can you get?)

So now, for my fourth subject I've got a choice of Biology or Chemistry.
Any idea which I should do? Any 5th/6th years with advice?
I had a CRAP teacher for science in 1st and 2nd year and dont really want to be relying on two sciences for points. Which would be easiest? I've got HL maths.

    Thanks in advance

If you get the opportunity to go into transition year - ask if you can do half year on one subject and then the 2nd half the year doing the other, then by the time you're ready to go into 5th year - you and you alone will know which one would suit your needs and abilities better.

Best of luck in your choices

I found Biology easier than Chemistry put then it all depends on what your better at and what you like!

Take chemistry. Its supposed to be a bit hard, but you need it for sooooo many courses at 3rd level. Don't be worried by your JC results, they mean nothing.

I do biology and its quite heard. It depends whether your good at learning definitions or good at maths. Pick biology if your good at defs. And chemistry if your more maths inclined. .

Also, some schools will let you take the time for a subject to do a subject you really want to do. Ie not do biology or chemistry but teach yourself one of your other subjects.

One of my friends wanted to do Geography but it got stuck against one of his favourite subjects. He made an arrangement with the school to sit it there and have a free class a few times a week but went to Saturday lessons on it elsewhere.

JC Science is basically all lies, if you do either of those subjects you'll be relearning everything from the ground up.

Chemistry is pretty tough, you really have to put a fair bit of work, but it's incredibly interesting. Obviously though I'm a little biased.....(Doing Chemistry in college)

Biology can be pretty tedious, I hated Plant bio/most of Human bio/Ecology, so studying that was pretty unpleasant. I did love the little bits that overlapped with Chemistry (Respiration/Photosynthesis), but aside from that, I found it pretty boring.

(There is a bit of an overlap between the modern physics section of Physics and the history of the Atom etc in Chemistry)

:DThanks for all your replies, I think Im gonna go for chemistry as i'll be doing physics and I would prefer the maths side of things to learning off definitions.
Just hope I don't regret it when it comes to the points side of things though.
