I'm doing a college assignment on this, with regards to privacy and data protection, so any sources or legislation for this would be fantastic.

Basically, I'm wondering if a car is stolen, and that car passes a barrier-free toll, such as on the m50, could the gardai access the data and see when the car has been on it? or can stolen car data be provided to the tolling companies, so that if a registration number passes a camera, the number, time, and place is noted and automatically sent to the gardai?

Yes to your questions, but I don't know if they do or not.
If they can release cctv footage on RTE for stolen cars, goods etc, whats stopping them accessing the toll cctv footage?
You have a right to privacy as a citizen but I wonder if your where-abouts can be monitored without your knowlage?

Its not without your knowledge though!
I would doubt that the gardai are notified automatically!

However, given the number of errors eflow seemed to be having previously, its possible that the gardai wouldnt trust eflow's data!
