Looking at a 406 with a 2.2 HDI engine at the moment. It has 115000 miles on the clock but I dont think the timing belt has been changed. I was under the impression this work should be done at about 80000 miles but now ive been told this engine has a "cam chain" and this only needs to be tightened not replaced.
Could someone put me straight on all this. Thanks

    Hi lb1,
Afaik the timing belt should be replaced @100,000mls so i'd insist
on having it replaced before your strike a deal...:)
These have a both a timing belt an a timing chain.
The timing chain joins both camshafts together which may need to be checked/tensioned at this milage.
On the diagram you can see both timing belt and chain.
