aerlingus are charging €350 on the journey over (its no wonder they are in financial crisis), and whereas ryanair travel to a different airport, i would have went there except the days that i can go, ryanair dont fly out. does anyone know of another airline going direct from dublin?

We are doing ryainair from cork to gatwick , then BA (business class) down to Venice.

    €400 each return total.

Aer Lingus wanted over 500 each from Dublin.

Flying into Bologna (BLQ) is an option. A taxi from the airport to the train station is only about €10
A train from there to Venice will only take 1.30 hours and about 12 quid. IMO the train over the causeway is the most scenic way in. (I've made the journey a few times now)
Italian railways are a joy to use.. LINK very, very frequent and cheap.
I would really have to advise a night or two in Bologna though, perhaps at the end of your trip, the food is just savage. It's off the beaten track enough not to be touristy but has enough international students to have a very cool nightlife. Between the bad food and getting ripped off in Venice, you'll appreciate a night in a place where you're not just a walking ATM.
PM me if you want tips for eating or staying in Bologna.
