Making a mat out of large carpet cutting

    Hi,
We recently had new carpets put down upstairs and I thought (being so clever and all ;) ) that I'd keep the cuttings for future use.

Now there are some large pieces left and I was hoping to have them trimmed/finished around the edges so it can be used as a mat, just something to put by the front door to wipe shoes etc..

Can anyone think of a place that do such a thing? I'm in Cork but may travel if it's worth it.

Plenty of places in Dublin; Rugs By Design ( who would send the finished rug back to you by courier) or Carpet Binding Services, Sean Fitzgerald

I had a piece of leftover carpet 'hemmed' recently to cover a stain. I cant remember the exact name of the shop (it may be the Carpet Store) but its next to arramount furniture on the dock road in Limerick. They have somebody who comes in weekly and takes away all the carpets to be hemmed. I was only charged me 20 euro for the job, even though I had originally bought the carpet elsewhere. I would imagine though if you went back to the shop where you bought the carpet that they could organise it for you otherwise I'd say try ringing a few local carpet stores, I'm sure most of them would have a contact who could do it for you.

Usually the place you bought the carpet from can send it off to be done.
