    Hello,
    I'm a research student at NUIM and require access to a vital journal article. The Library is subscribed to the journal (Canadian Geographer) but does not have access to the 1985 edition of the journal.

    Anybody any ideas on how to access the journal? I have done a thorough online search to access the full text of the article but cannot get it, you need to be subscribed to the journal privately.

    Also tried searching hard copy stores in TCD, UCD, NUIG but can't seem to locate it either! :(

    Your help/advice on the above would be appreciated.

    Some tricks that might work....

    Try google scholar, you might get lucky - throw in the article title and it might be saved/hosted somewhere else.

    Did you try IRIS through 'other catalogues' from the library homepage? Try the British library and library of congress also, they can arrange interlibrary loans if they have it in print. I got one a while back in electronic format - the library can request an electronic copy and send it to you for one-off viewing.

    Try the Freeman library in Trinity, its a dedicate geography library - I've gotten lucky a few times with some obscure geography journals. Access via. ALCID or your TCD readers card if you have one. You can also get a day pass to go in and copy it if they have it.

    If you really really want it you can pay, usually around $25 a go, but I haven't had to pay yet :)

    Trieda few of those things already and no luck with them but fortunately I managed to find it with help from the library staff...silly me didn't explore the library catalogue correctly so it is actually available in hard copy so a trip over to photocopy this evening is in order!

    I will save your advice for next time though!
