Is a special restaurant licence and a wine licence required for a restaurant to sell wine or does the special restaurant licence cover off the alcohol side of it?

Also what is the lead time to attain this licence and at what point should it be applied for?

    Anyone?

The restaurant licence permits the sale of alcohol with a meal. It can take a while depending on where you are, volume of applications etc. You need a fire cert and approval from the local Garda station. The Gardai are usually very accommodating as long as you have no previous 'black marks' and the premises has a fairly good history and there are no major order issues in the locality. The fire officer, on the other hand, can be, how shall I say, precise?!;). You need to have up to date (proper) plans of the premises, layout of furniture etc. You will also have to have all fire regulations in order. He will object on even the slightest failing. Remember that the court may not always block an application on an objection from the Gardai but the court will always block it on the Fire officers objection.
