Casinos v Pub games, whats best to play?

I play live 2-3 times a week in both pub games and casinos/clubs in the Dublin/Kildare area. Lately I notice a lot of the players from the pub games now playing in the clubs instead of the pubs. Some have told me the reason they moved was because of the free drink and are cutting costs for their poker night out. I know this is the case with some people but do others feel they are better than the pub games and think they are moving up a level. Personally I find the pub games have just as good a standard if not better in some cases and are much more enjoyable to play so I prefer the pub game. Also they finish that bit earlier so they suit me for work days. Anyway the question Im asking is am I alone in thinking clubs are not a step up from the pub game, just poker snobbery.
    Thanks:D

While the gap between clubs and pubs has closed a bit over the recent years as the pub market grows and matures, there is still a marked difference in levels. The pubs are definitely more crap shooty and it's going to be that way for a while yet.

I agree they are more crap shooty but I think this is down to the time constraints with pubs having to close.

I prefer casino club games to pub games, as the game will never peter out and if you want to play until 6-7am, you can. Pub games, tho, are far much more fun and will have better banter, but have the problem that many places want the game over and all players out by closing (there are some exceptions to this, but very few).

It really depends. If you're looking for a nice, cheap, relaxing game: the pub game is for you.

Looking to make money, looking for a serious game: go to a casino club.

    Good luck!

The main difference IMO is a pub game has to be over by closing time regardless of the stage the tournament is at.I have not played a pub game in years but from what I hear the standard has slightly increased and the difference between them and the lower buy in club games may not be as big these days.
