holiday choice dilemma

Hi all, i have a bit of an unusual query for those who might have some experience on sharm el shiekh in egypt and or koh samui in thailand. basically myself and my girlfriend have narrowed it down to either or for mid june for 2 weeks. egypt is coming in at 800 all inclusive and thailand at around 1100. On holidays we usually like to hit the beach for the day, do an excusion or 2 over the hol and basically just chill, go for a few drinks and a few meals and do some shopping. I was just wondering if anyone would pick one over the other for this kind of holiday. Basically i'm wondering if the long flight and extra premium is worth it for 2 weeks in thailand. I've read that if going that 2 weeks is a minimum. Also its hard to find detailed info on sharm except that its got great diving, which neither of us is interested in! I'd like to see both places at some stage eventually but struggling to choose at the moment. Apologies for bad formatting, posting via mobile, thanks for any advice, paul.

i havent been to either so i might be totally wrong but i know people who have been to both places ( not both places but one of each) and i got the impression thailand would be better. Ive guessed from online reviews that thai would be better aswell.

But ive never been so its only hearsay
