Buying Car Warranty

    Seeing alot of ad's (English) on tv where you can now buy car warranty for your car new or old). Is this a new thing thats about or what? Just interested to see does anyone know more about it :pac:

    you can buy Mapfre warranties in Ireland.

    They start at about 400 euro for a year I think

    My experience of Mapfre is that they are an utter disaster and basically cover nothing - every problem is down to "wear and tear". You have to pay diagnosis costs so say if you have a gearbox problem you have to pay to get it removed and stripped. They then examine it and if anything is worn they refuse to pay. It is not a warranty it is mechanical breakdown insurance.

    There was another thread on here when someone was very happy with the mapfre warranty. Engine management light on, car was taken in, diagnosed & sensor replaced free of charge. Might be useful on a new car just out of warranty. Electronic issues can be a killer whereas wear & tear cannot really come into it. I assume the electronic stuff is covered.
