I have booked two houses for the June bank holiday and was wondering if anyone knows how strict they are regarding how many people stay in the houses.

They both sleep 6 but I wonder if it would matter if we put 8 in each house by using the couch or a blow up mattress

Just wondering if anyone knew offhand as dont really want to ring the caretaker as that will defintely put them on red alert

As long as you don't leave a mess or destroy something, they usually don't care. They are happy to have guests anyway. And you are renting a house, not beds.

Private landlords are sometimes a bit iffy about how many people are staying, but it's Lahinch and obviously one of the holiday estates...

From my experience (I look after a holiday home of a neighbour) it's annoying if two people are booked in, but all the towels and the bedlinen is used up because they invited friends. It's more work to clean and to wash. But if you booked for six and let sleep another two or four it doesn't really matter.

Just tidy up a bit afterwards, will you? ;)

We won't be leaving too much of a mess and will definetely clean up after us

I might be wrong here, but I remember there being something about people renting out houses having to insure them for the max. number of tennants rather than the value of the house.

I'd suggest not all arriving at the same time, just 1 group arrive, get shown in and then you'll be fine, once they've handed over the keys and gone through the meters and whatever with you you'll be fine
