I'd like to rent a house for a weekend to have a party.

So far I've found this place that would do it:

    http://www.coolatorehouse.ie/

Only problem is it's €2,200 for the weekend.

Could anyone recommend anywhere similiar but a bit more downmarket?

    Plus VAT

All prices are listed excluding VAT @ 21% on accommodation and VAT @ 13.5% on food and wine

I've included the VAT. It's €1800 ex VAT.

The Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar came back to me with the following quote:

    Penthouse:
Our lavish penthouse is the ultimate party venue. We have a white grand piano in the living room, 1 bedroom and an upstairs plus a wrap-around patio area with one patio heater on the roof top. Our largest project was to airlift an airstream onto the patio so guests taking out the Penthouse can have their very own bar in an American Airstream while taking in a view of the river and the city. We can set up a tab or organise a paying bar until 12.30am.

The cost per night to hire the Penthouse is Euro 1,000.00 which includes overnight accommodation for two people.

    Penthouse Policies:
    • Maximum numbers 60 pax
    • Outside alcohol or food not permitted
    • We can set up a tab bar or paying bar until 12.30am at weekends or 12am week days.
    • No late bar allowed.
    • Guests must leave the Penthouse house by 1am
    • Bar can be set up in kitchen area of penthouse
    • One patio heater available for rooftop
    • Music through DVD player can be played until Midnight
    • No DJ allowed.
    • Buffet or Finger Food can be ordered in advance.
    • No other food or drink is permitted on premises
    • No fancy dress allowed
    • Please consider other guests. The Management have the right to inform Penthouse guests if music/noise is too loud at any stage throughout the event.

Not that I am aware of.

Although the Morgan is a hotel so it does have security etc in the main bar.

A house out of the city is the best way to go. If you rent an apartment in an established and lived in complex for the purposes of a session you'll piss of all the poor gits that live there. There's a top floor apartment across from us that is rented on a short term lease and often the loud parties start on Thursday and finish on Monday morning. Short term leased apartments are usually designed for people visiting for a weekend - be it tourism or business. Its generally not designed for you and 40 of your mates to get hammered in and make a shít load of noise. /rant

Alternatively, if cost is proving too much, you could always just book a function room somewhere.
