    -NOT SEEKING MEDICAL ADVICE-

have been to the physio and have been diagnosed with this. Pretty sure it occurred due to gradual increase in mileage. Cant run for a few weeks now and i ain't a happy camper! Just wondering has anyone else ever suffered from this...how long it took to recover and did you do any cross training.

Don't think i'm breaking any rules but if i am fair enuf!!:pac:

    Hiya

I had (& still have) this injury as well. Diagnosed as high hamstring tendinopathy. Pain around the glute area. Havent been running much of late due to work etc. When I do I get really stiff afterwards and twinges of pain in the glute/top of hamstring. Did you get yours sorted?

Not trying to be smart but diagnosed how - by physio or how? Did you have an MRI or ultrasound?

Had an MRI at the sports surgery clinic after going to one of their sport physicians.

    How has yours progressed?

I have something slightly different but am also a regular at the SSC now. I would just follow the physicians advice to the letter - i doubt you ll get any better advice here.

How is it progressing? What sort of stuff are you doing with the physio

I got a PRP injection there. I was told it would heal in 3-6 weeks.

I wasnt given any advice on rehab etc. So I'm just doing some hamstring & glute strengthening stuff like donkey kicks, fit ball exercises etc

Maybe i should go back to them again. Not sure what to do really - where is the best place to get that kind of advice? Its a "funny" injury - its never really that sore or stops me running. But i feel sore afterwards, when driving and in bed.

Maybe its just one of those things you have to manage. I hate to have any sort of niggly injury.

Any recommendation for good physio/physical therapist/S&C person for runners?

    cheers

I would go back if its still bothering you. I'm surprised you werent suggested a physio appointment and a rehab program at the end of the 6 weeks.

Im on an eccentric strengthening program but then again i ve a different injury.

I certainly wouldnt be doing anything in the way of stretching or strengthening unless it was prescribed.

    Anyway definitely go back

I was getting hamstring pain on RH side just before the Dublin marathon last year and had to back out of it. I found out (by chance) that the hamstring strain was due to a weak glute on that side. I've since been doing extra exercises to strengthen the glutes and am back running and racing with no more issues.

I had something similar. Went to hartman sports clinic in limerick. Not cheap but excellent i found. Got some stretches and eccentric exercises to do. Excellent results.

The pain of the 'loosening' of hamstrings and hips was something else but totally worth it;)
