    Hi,

I went to dole office to inform them i became redundant after 2.5 years full employment. I thought after reading the sticky post( It states that one must have 39 PRSI contributions in 2007 or 29, i think, in both 2006 and 2007). this lead me to fear that I wouldn't get Jobseekers Benefit as I worked abroad in 2007 but they informed me today that it is based on my work record in 2008. Should that post be updated? or can someone clarify
    Curtis

Social welfare base your eligibility to claim most benefit payments on your PRSI contributions made 2 years prior to the year you commence your claim - so for 2010, your contributions made in 2008 are valid.

It seems straight forward but I was on 2 days a week working last year (full time before that since 2003) and I was get social welfare benefit for the remaining 3 days. So this January I was made redundant and have been on JSB since January 2010 and now my contributions, I have been told, have run out so I am being cut off! So my question is if payment from Social Welfare in 2009 for three days while working 2 days is based on PRSI payment for the previous tax year then to follow on, payments in 2010 are based in 2008, when I was in full time work, how come I am now being cut off JSB when I thought it should run for at least 9 months?
