Just watching the replay of the 3.50 at Pntefract today (had no money on the race(. Dan Buoy wins after leading from pillar to post. I love seeing that when other jockeys are convinced the leader will come back to them.

Silly in this case rally as Dan Buoy has won at 3m over hurdles 3 times.

Soft leads should never be given but I suppose no one wanted to blow their own chance by taking him on.

l could'nt agree more about giving away soft leads its stupid.

ruby won on kusadasi two sundays ago and he was allowed to line up about 4 lenghts ahead of the field and then they let him go about 10 to 15 lenghts clear even tho he was'nt going that fast.

Well I suppose I backed Barizan at Cheltenham so I'm kind of reliving the disappointment of that through Dan Buoy, but honestly I was glad to see a ride like that pay off for connections. It's not always gravy out in front making the pace.

I remember an American horse at the Breeders Cup last year,I believe he finished second to Conduit, was a brilliant front runner. I remember John McCirrick takin the mick out of the Americans beforehand for putting in a 'pace maker',but this fella was doing times that and speeds that would rival a 6 furlong sprinter. Was very unlucky to get beat, was finally beaten near the line I think.

Yeah I remember that. He very nearly didn't come back to them. I think (I've got no real evidence) that most jockeys prefer a front running ride. Well tbh I saw 4 of them being asked and 3 of them said they would. Not really a definitive sample.

But I guess theres a difference between a front runner and one that blazes off 8+ lengths al la Barizan. As a jockey you'd really want to have faith in the trainer that the horse will last it out. Barizan was a lot of peoples biggest disappointment of the festival. It would have been epic if he'd lasted home

I didn't rate barizan an awful lot before the race.. Perhaps I was a bit biased after I backed him at 8/11 in a novice hurdle a few months ago. Ran at 4/11 and got beaten something like 35 lenghts. His Cheltenham and Aintree run proved me wrong.

It's hard after getting burned so bad but you know you have to forgive 1 bad run. Menorah among others?

Menorah's run before Cheltenham was it?
I had forgiven him that even before he won the SNH,I had a smal e/w on him, because I thought that the race just wasn't ran in a suitable way for him, which I didn't think would happen at cheltenham.

    Danish Rebel you beauty!

Glad to say i backed him at 16/1. As I was saying earlier in the thread I love to see horses balze off on their own and snatch a race. I love it even more when im on at a big price.

Barizan did the business today. I wasnt on due to supposed sticky ground. Didn't stop him romping home as fresh as a daisy. looks to be some horse, and will go on next year provided the winter isn't as bad as this year
