I'm probably going to need a deposit for a house in about five years' time. I have a decent amount of cash from an SSIA, which I put into Quinn Life's freeway funds. I recently closed my account with Quinn because of all the shenanigans going on there. They've told me Quinn Life is a seperate company with ring-fenced assets, but the way I see it, you can't be too careful.

I'm looking for an alternative to Quinn now. I'm not really keen on actively managed funds, since their fees tend to be a bit high. I've looked at Rabodirect, but I'm not crazy about the enterance and exit charges they impose alongside fund management fees. I was happy with the 1% to 1.5% that Quinn were charging.

Does anyone know of a company that offers exposure to a stock index with minimal fees, ideally where I can make regular small investments?

    Thanks for your help.

How bad are Rabos fees as a matter of interest? Did you see a Rabofund in that other thread that you liked the look of?

I did this survey of charges/comparison in Oct. '07. It's slightly dated but it's not a million miles off the mark.

It may help you with your research.

.75% to get in or out, with typically 1.5% annual charge, though this depends on the fund.

Don't invest money you can't afford to lose.
Stick it in sometinh like an ulsterbank esaver and forget it.
    check moneyguideireland for rates
