Been through the visa issue thing in Bangkok airport three times and it's excutiatingly slow, try and be one of the first to get off the plane so as to be ahead of the rest of the travellers on the plane, get to the fun quicker!

I have been through immigration in Thailand at leat 15 or 16 times and never more than a couple of minutes. Mostly overland routes but the few occasions I went through Bangkok airport I dont remember any significant delay...

I was there in July last and it was a good 30 mins in the queue. It was during the swine flu epidemic and I was freakin out because they were using thermal scanning at arrivals, and I had the worst flu I'd had in about 10 years (Not the swine variety though).

You'd be well advised skip-walking your way to immigration to get through quickly.

Wow crossing from Malaysia into Thailand (which is not a great border) by train, they empty out all passengers and their bags, put them through customs and immigration and then take off again.

On the 3 or 4 occasions I have done it never took more than 30 to 45 minutes for the entire train.
