Spoilers within as stated in Thread title if you don't want to know - don't be here!!!!!!!!

I don't believe it. Will that man ever find happiness?
    I cried

Quite a slow episode overall, introducing new characters etc..

Reckon Jack and Cole will have a face off as Jack tortures Dana half to death for info.

    Go Chloe, CTU Director lol.

Ah for **** sake. Give the guy a break already. So much for Jack ever getting a happy ending. Very good episode again, but its kind of depressing at this stage.

I knew she was a goner once she noticed the Russian... kept hoping i was wrong..

Jacks gonna be angry... Season 1esque angry

Well at least 24 is consistent to its own rules : Have sex with Jack Bauer and you will most definitely die. Pity though Renee's time was so short. Have to say if this leaves us with a Jack Bauer style "Nothing to lose" character who's pissed beyond pissed then I'm going to hold back the complaints. But seriously 24 producers give Jack some happiness for once in his life.

Putting aside everything else, I am again reminded how the casting crew did such an excellent job casting G. Itzin (Logan). The way he looks, tilts his head, the way he speaks, beady little eyes ... how can anybody be any more spineless than him??? Good actor, no doubt.

As for the drama... Thought that killing off Renee was just a cheap and easy way to get Jack back into action. Come on people, only last year you were begging for more money, you could at least put a bit more imagination into the script.

And we all thought it was shocking to see Chloe pull a gun in the previous episode.... hah, look at her now. ;)

    Great episode.

Hell of a lot happening in it.

The Russians are involved, Logan's back, Chloe put in charge, Renée dead. Who knew you could fit the whole lot into one hour?

It's kinda stupid that Logan would have relations with Moscow

It was Martha who was close to the Suvarovs, and Logan nearly had em killed

And then the Pres lets him go off on his own little secret mission. Wtf!
I think he's up to somethin

That was lame about Renee. I'm surprised the sniper didn't pull a Spiderman and speak his thoughts out loud

Jack has the Midas touch. Too bad its his willy, and it makes em dead

Dammit (in true Jack tone)! I figured Renee was a goner too as soon as she spotted the medic... still sad though :(. And that makes two silent clock countdowns in a row, sheesh...

I think Sherifu first predicted last week that the Russians would be involved - spot on :). They really are rolling with all the cliches at this stage - the inevitable Logan double-cross should be around the corner now.

Still, pissed-off Jack should be great to watch, I do hope he takes out quite some anger on Dana :D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭KerranJast

I actually shouted COME ON really loudly at my laptop when the evil EMT was shown. Enough with the cliqued ****e already 24 producers

Aaaaaaaaanyway. Renee :( That was rough. You'd want to have a heart of stone not to get misty eyed at that final scene. Poor Jack. Could they not have had her kidnapped or something? Or just in a coma? Did they have to go all out and tear whatever remains of the guys heart out? Feckin hell.

When I saw the russian delegate make an appearance a few episodes ago, I knew this season was going to end on a real high. I love that guy, and with him usually come absolute gun totting chaos.

Now I find out the Russians are back involved. And with her good self dead, there is really only one way this is ending.

I thought the gun shootout with Jack and the Drazen brothers from Season 1 was pretty amazing, a real indication of what a man in anger can do.

I can just tell this is going to be an awesome ending to season 8, absolutely 100% awesome.

Can I just ask, season 7 left a kinda lingering ending storywise, with the whole situation regarding some group of individuals calling the shots, and well, Tony.

We are at episode 18 next, little time left, is that ever being resolved?

gosh. russians back as predicted... of course Logan is up to something ....

question is who is Jack going to interrogate/torture/ kill first...

lol i do think he got a coffee in the subway station with chase in season 3

Dammit, in typical 24 style they wasted the best character they had on the show in a while. What they did to Renee this year was criminal. S7 would have been pure muck without her.

Btw only the nerdiest nerd from Nerdsville would believe that Chloe would be made head of CTU. It's straining credulity to say that the tech head would be put in charge in any organisation let alone CTU.
However Kiefer did rock those grief scenes. Poor Jack really looked devastated. His wife was murdered and now his girl has been murdered. He's really gonna be pissed when he finds out his show has been cancelled. :pac:

She is only a stand in until they find a permanent replacement.

Gutted Renee is gone, great character and quite hot but the saving grace will be Jack going postal on anyone who gets in his way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 736 ✭✭✭Dilynnio

    It was a great episode!

Gutted Renee is gone her and Jack were a great little team!

The last few episodes should be action packed.......maybe with Jack getting a bullet!!!Although I doubt it! But you never know......it is the last one!

Cant wait for next weeks! :)

    I so love this show.
This was a deceptively slow episode but so much was going on at the same time. This season has shown a lot more emotion than just slam bam action and shoot em up.
Jack's devastation at Renee's death was palpable. He looked completely shattered. Their connection before that was very human, very touching. And it would have been wrong not to have the silent clock even if it was the second show in a row.
Yes there are some 24 clichés - or recurring motifs - but then there are some real surprises out of left field too, like the deaths of two key characters in two consecutive episodes. Putting Chloe in charge was a bit of a surprise but now she gets to walk the corridors and talk on her headset.
The skillful combination of these elements in the tightly drawn 24 hour format is what makes it such a great ride for the viewer.
I am really enjoying 24 this season.

Season 8 has really picked up over the last few weeks and two silent clocks back to back?! Brilliant.

Disappointed to see Renee go but glad Logan's back. He always was the best villain. I don't think Tony is coming back though.

BTW Jack can't die. He's still got a film to shoot.

    Sounds good!!

They wanted him to be in a good place with her and have that happen to her and have that be the catalyst to send him off completely on a bloodbath!"
24 star Annie Wersching has admitted that she knew she would be killed off.
During the latest episode, Wersching's character Renee Walker was shot by sniper fire following a love scene with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).
"I've known since the beginning of the season that this is what they wanted to do," she told People.
"They really wanted Jack and Renee to get really serious inasmuch as you can in a show where you are trying to save the world at the same time. They wanted him to be in a good place with her and have that happen to her and have that be the catalyst to send him off completely on a bloodbath!"
Wersching added that she was more nervous about filming her sex scene than her death.
"The actual filming of those days were kind of masked because Kiefer and I had to shoot this love scene," she said. "I was nervous enough about that, that I was like, 'I get shot? Big deal! How am I going to deal with this part?'"
Wersching also revealed that she was saddened by the news that the show will end after its eighth season.
"As an actor, I know roles go away," she explained. "You get another job. But as a fan, I'm just sad we won't keep learning about what keeps happening in Jack's life and Chloe's life. I'm sad that in the theoretical world of what keeps happening to them, that Renee isn't off doing something is very sad."

    Idiots!

Not just because Renee was killed, but how they did it

It was SO obvious and drawn out

and why didn't the sniper kill jack first? He went to kill the 2 of them

    Grrrrrr arrrrgh

Simple rule : If you are sniping once you take out the first target you are usually compromised. Take out the higher priority targets first, in this case Jack was lucky (as always) because Renee was more valuable than he was.

    What an episode!

Well I unlike everyone else here in no way seen Rennes death coming. I assume they would go on the run or something. I really didn't expect them to kill off 2 major characters in a row like that. That's pretty extreme even for 24. It's a shame as Renne really grow on me over the course of season 7+8. The upside is I am expecting pure Jack Bauer revenge ala the season 1 finale. The scene where he just drives into the base running over everyone is still 1 of the best moments in 24 history.

Chloe becoming head of CTU is awesome. Yeah it's totally unrealistic but who cares it's Chloe and we don't have to bored by Hastings anymore. Such a great move...
...on the other hand Hassans wife becoming president. Well, that's up there with Wayne Palmer for facepalm awfulness. That parliament really works fast

Still, incredible episode. I look forward to 7 hours of jack going postal, bring it on!

Jack will get even more pissed when he hears Logan is "Helping" Cannot wait, never so excited for an episode of 24 since the glory days of S5.

    Renee :(

2 silent clocks in a row, sad times.

Renee dead :( another one bits the dust

Pah, Renee was just a fling. Day 8 was only their second date. Now they can bring back Audrey (Jack's real deal) for the movie :p

Fantastic last two episodes. 24 back on form for a grand finale.

rediculous that Chloe is head of CTU. Wasn't it less then 18 hours ago when she was told she would nearly be fired cuz she couldn't do her job (not up with all the new tech) and when she is told to do something (leaver the servers alone), she doesn't like that answer so pulls a gun on the g-man and then gets promoted to head of CTU.

Next time my boss tells me something, I'll try pull a knife on them, that might get me at least supervisor according to 24 law!

Double silent clock; they're not holding back with this season! That was the first time in a long time that 24 has made my jaw drop. Season 8 has been slow and steady up to recently, now it's going a mile a minute. I really didn't expect her to die, I thought she'd just be out of action 'til the end of the season...she was a cool character!

    Angry Jack is awesome though...

Such a great episode, loads happened!

Is it wrong that i am delighted that Logan is back, such a great character and we didn't know if he was even still alive up to now after his psycho wife went chop chop on him!

Which reminds me, no Aaron Pierce this season :(
