    Is it true that you can use this in the USA too without the need of a step up transformer? As in just using a UK-USA adapter

    Yeah, all Macbooks have a universal power supply which will work anywhere.

    The only issue is they use a different plug.

    You don't even need an adaptor.
    I just use a C7/C8 connector, aesthetics be damned!

    I do the same for my american/european plugs from apple, just put one of these on it, unless you already have an adapter
