I was at the Grand National on Saturday.

After the race, they interviewed a few jockeys

    They all had Irish accents.
I also noticed the past few years, the winning jockey nearly always is Irish.

Are the majority of jockeys from Ireland ?

The 'top' jocks like Ruby AP, BJG, Paddy Brennan are Irish, Choc and Richard Johnson are the best of the English, most jockeys are capable, Barry Cash falls into neither category IMO

Ireland has argubaly the best jockeys(Nh),but in flat the English are just as good.

99% sure that Maguire is Irish. Adrian Maguire nephew I think IIRC.

Top english national hunt jockeys are almost a novelty at this stage. Its somewhat more international on the flat, but only somewhat.

I only found out at the festival that Richard Hughes is Dessie Hughes' son.

Theres some amount of nepotism in racing! It's hard to keep track of all the dynasties

Sure, isn't because of the Pixie gene? ;) Its the heritage of the disipline being handed down. It becomes self perpetuatiing I think.
