I have posted on here before and I got great advice, so I hope I can get the same benefit again. Last week was one of the worst weeks I have had in a long time mainly because 2 issues bundled into one. Was in a relationship with a girl from my class for about a month and a half. We were getting on really well and we both enjoyed each others company.

Last Thursday was when the bombshell hit me. My uncle went into hospital the night before because he got a heart attack. Thank God he is ok now, but its one of those things that really hits you, especially when he was a big part of your life growing up etc. But to make matters worse, the girlfriend broke up with me, straight out of the blue, and over a text! I was waiting for a bus home from college at the time the text was sent, and I have to say, I took it pretty hard! I didn't know how to respond, react or anything. There was a women at the bus stop and she couldn't help but notice I had gone really pale in the face. So she asked if I was ok, and I explained what just happened. I just couldn't hold back the tears...emotion just took over me!

Relationships have never gone well for me and I felt sure this one was going somewhere because we both really liked each other. She told me she had issues to sort out but didn't really give me the details on what they were. I feel so lost again...that another person I really trusted has done this to me again. What I would like to know is do girls usually do this out of the blue to someone, and what can I do to pick myself up again...I feel like everything I stand for as a person has been broken, and I don't know if I can trust another girl again as its the 4th time this has happened to me...I'm only 22 and I know I have my whole life in front of me but I'm just devastated that this keeps happening to me...

Awhhh bless! :( As you said, you've got your whole life ahead of you, so try staying positive. Girls can be tempermental and make rash decisions sometimes, but I'm not sure if this actually happens a lot, sorry.

Awh bless you poor thing! :( Good luck!

What a horrible week for you, OP. You had all the stress and worry of your uncle being very ill and your gf chooses that moment to dump you - by text!

I know emotions are raw at the moment but I think once you have had time to work through them you can consider yourself well rid. Relationships are not the be all and end all - especially at 22. Get out there and have a load of fun and I've no doubt you will meet someone really special in the process.

    Best of luck! :)

OP - sorry to hear about this - talk about the week from hell.

Thing is - we can't generalise too much. Yes some women are like this - so are some guys. Hopefully at some point you will meet someone who will treat you a bit better. How do you meet them? Well one way is to get out there and just socialise - get to know different kinds of people, after a while you will hopefully find your gut will let you know which folk are the deceitful ones.

Who knows - maybe she has been having a hard time too and just needed an easy way out. It can be a lot easier breaking up like this for the person doing the dumping - minimising their pain - but it really does not take into the account the other person.

Try not to let this girl mess you too much - but try to find something out there to go out for and have some fun.
