Will a rusted dish be OK?

I've had a look and not seen a thread directly dealing with this. I'm just wondering, will a rusted dish actually work? I'm putting up an old one I have that is rusted quite badly and yes I've seen threads about painting them but I don't mind about the look of it because it will be at another house, concealed nicely near the back. So before I waste my time putting it up, does anyone know if it would actually work?

You're be as well off getting a new one, save you a load of hassle in the future. It might / might not work, and if it does, for how long.

I noticed mine the other day. It's rusted to bits. I don't really know if rust affects the signal, but mine works.

Well it's not a necessity because these folk are pretty much bog channel warriors but I've an old Lidl receiver and this old rusty dish so am just considering making use of it, therefore I won't go lashing out on a new one. If then it's not a definite no, I might take the chance if i'm free at the weekend

Is that a sky perforated dish? That's the kind I've got anyway, I'm just thinking that rust might affect them more since they're some bit weaker because of the perforations. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I had a rusty dish on my house and it worked for 8 years. It was still working when I took it down. You could always paint it.
