Bus from Kinnegad to Dublin?

Just wondering are there any alternatives to Bus Eireann's service from Kinnegad to Dublin? Need to get a daily bus first thing in the morning - say arriving sometime before 8AM in the city centre.

I have seen other buses at Kinnegad and always wondered were there any other reliable buses going that route.

From what I gather the Bus Eireann service which starts at Mullingar at 6:15 gets you to Dublin at 8:05am. I'd be cutting it really fine with that one.

    Any other alternative buses?

    Thanks for any responses.

If you have a way of travelling to Mullingar/Enfield the new train service at 6.18 from Mullingar gets you into the City before 8am. Think its at Connolly for approx 7.30am and goes as far as Pearse Station.

I used the city link service a few times. Its a Galway - Dublin Airport bus but it goes in through the city centre

That is not correct, the 6.35 from Kinnegad would drop off at O'Connell Bridge well before 7.45, closer to 7.30 I would expect. I have driven the 6.50 from Enfield via Kilcock and Maynooth and that easily gets to O'C Bridge by 7.50, the 6.35 from Kinnegad would be at least 10 mns ahead of that.

As Vic 08 says the 0615 bus from Mullingar is timetabled to arrive at St Stephen's Green for 0755 - it's Busarus it doesn't arrive at until 0805.

Therefore it should be at O'Connell Bridge for before 0750.

    Hi Irish Gent

Kinnegad is not the nicest of places to live, I'd punt for Mullingar over it.
The bus service from Mullingar to Dublin for commuters is ridiculously slow though. Over 1.50mins to travel 40 odd miles makes no sense!
It says 28-30 mins from Kinnegad to Junction 1 on the M50 on that electronic travel sign outside of the town. Mullingar is less than 10mins away from said sign so do the math ;)

From experience I would consider opting for the train service from Mullingar in the mornings over the bus. Most trains leaving from the station there will get you to Connolly/ central Dublin in an hour or so.

Depends on where in Dublin you need to get to of course.
I used to Drive from Mullingar to work in Park West in the mornings. It took me about 50mins using the old road (i.e not the tolled M4) and 40-45mins if I elected to use the motorway.

Do the sums on cost of travel (petrol, tolls, your time at home, increased wear and tear if using a car or ticket price plus time for public transport) and compare to living closer to Dublin.
