Sky & Sky Eye Question

    Hi All,

Recently bought a house an have ordered Sky to be installed next week. Just was hoping someone could give me advice:

    1. Sky + HD in Living Room: We have just moved in and have put in a new TV point etc and power sockets but is there anything else we need to have in place before the Sky Engineer calls out? If we bought the tv cable and connected it to the TV would we get Rte 1, Rte 2 etc regardless of whether we have a dish........just wondering will I have any channels this weekend! Also I understand I need an active phone line - there is a phone line but don't know if its active because we are not putting in a landline in the house - how do I check? The phoneline is in the hall - will that matter when it comes to connecting the Box up? Don't want a big cable running through the living room!

    2. We are getting a regular Sky Box in the bedroom - the bedroom is small so we are planning on putting the Box itself in the wardrobe (power sockets there etc) and using the Sky Eye. To be honest don't know alot about these Sky Eyes - will what we are planning work? How will the box connect to the TV? Do we need to connect a cable or summit? Don't want to have to put a big hole in the wall to feed a scart to the wardrobe!

Any suggestions?? Also where do I but these Sky Eyes in Dublin??

    Thanks in advance!

    1. If you are getting the HD pack on the HD+ box(you don't have to) then you will need a HDMI leasd from the sky box to the TV. Sky guy will have this. You will need an active phone line to get both boxes up and running. Sounds like it is not active seeing as you don't intend on having a land line. You could check it with a volt meter.
    2. simplest way to control the box in the bedroom is to run a co-ax from RF2 to the TV position. Put the magic eye on the coax and thenm in to the RF on the TV. Turn on the power to the RF2 outlet in the sky box menu. Tune the TV into channel 68. Sky guy will want to use the scart I'd say as it's quicker, easier and better.
Magic eyes can be purchased in most electrical places(TV shops etc etc.

So will I need to run the Co-Ax through the roof or what? The TV is mounted to the wall but we plan on puttin the Sky Box in the wardrobe which is about 5ft from the tv.

Are there any other ways of doing things to get the same result? Don't want to have to rip holes in the ceiling/wall if possible.
