Just chattting to a colleague and for their build, they installed temporary door frames for the plasterers I guess so they could get a finish before normal door frames went in. I am wondering, why wouldnt you just install the one set of doorframes at that time, seal them well. Mask them with tape, and then let plasterers off??
    any thoughts?

I too put dummy door frames in mine. Glad I did it too. I put in pre finished pre hung oak doors and frames. Saved me a lot of work and worked out much cheaper in the end.

If wasn't going the pre hung route I'd still use the dummy's. Oak is ruined if it gets moisture any where near it - and this can happen no matter how well its sealed or masked. Dummy frames are cheap and allow the plasterer to go straight through without worring about ruining your frames

it depends really on how your finishing the frames. if your painting them then theres no worries really but if your varnishing you wil never clean the plaster or the water damage out of the grain of the wood. and as for hardwoods plaster can burn the timber and the marking will never come out.
