    HI...
They were well ahead of their time when in production, stopped coming off the line in 1979 I think..

Wer've had a few 995/996 and we find them good for 2wd tractors, good lift system when its working fine although it can be complicated to repair...

Theck out the DB club website for information...
they also have a few former DB workers/dealers on the forum which is great for experience/repairs

we have 885 its a great tractor over 20000 hours, the other two have the same engine i think but more turbo, 995 is prone to trouble i heard

they are a good enough tractor we have had 4 here over the years that have got a lot of abuse. The 2 wheel drive are very light on the front but alright for topping, shaker and bits and bobs. The gear shifters in them take a bit of getting used to and if you are careful they work grand for years, if your not you will be out with a bar wedging them every time they stick in gear. They are a good all round tractor though and seem to go forever.

I'd personally stick with the older 1X94 range, which were all basically DBs in Case colours. Suppose to be a much more reliable tractor. We've had a 2wd 1394 here for years now, had a loader on it doing all the donkeywork before we got a 4wd, rarely missed a heartbeat over the years. Can be hard enough to find clean ones, but to be honest that goes for the 995s and all of those also, that's the joys of buying a 20yr old+ tractor!

Case 885s/ 895s are good stockman tractors and they have a great cab for their age.

A lot of the cabs have rust too.

Especially the L cabs and watch the XL cab in the lower corners.

chippy, take up the gear leavers i bet the peice at the bottom of the gear leaver is gone to a ball shape weld a little and make it square it won't get stuck in gear then a davey brown garage man done this for me years ago an it worked

We had an 895XL wrapping for 2 summers. Can't remember what hours she had, maybe around the 4,000. Nice tractors to drive if you've a good seat, I could stand up in the XL cab :D problems with the radiator meant we traded her in, but other than that it didn't fail us :) best of luck if you decide to buy.

I did this with our DB 995 at home. It works a treat. Only weld a small bit to the 4 sides and file to a square shape. Ours hasn't slipped out since I did it.
