Sunblock and Sunscreen? Some questions.

I've read that sunblock blocks out all uv rays, whilst sunscreen just filters and allows some uv rays through.
Would it be damaging to wear sunblock everyday?- Would it stop my body from producing vitamin D?

Another question that I've always really really wanted to know the answer to but can't find the information I want:

If I was wearing sunblock, or else sunscreen factor 30+ on my face, and I then applied a moisturiser, or a foundation that contained spf 15 (which is what the majority of products do), then what protection would I have?
Would I still have all the protection of the sunblock/spf 30, or would I only have the spf 15 protection? Would foundation without spf, or only containing spf15 prevent sunblock from working?

I've heard that you are supposed to reapply sunscreen every few hours, but I can't picture anybody reapplying foundation or moisturiser a few times a day just for the spf 15, so what do people usually do for day long protection?
Does sunblock need to be reapplied a few times daily, or is it just sunscreen?

Would really appreciate any help I could get regarding these questions,
thanks-will check back on this thread later tonight or else tomorrow.

Well I don't think there will be anyone on this forum that is an expert on this or anything and they will probably just rely on google tbh!!!!
First I would say about producing vitamin D is as long as you diet is ok I dont think there will be any problem with vitamin D defiency.
Second on the SPF 30+15: I dont see any reason that the protection would be lowered or be higher than 30, unless you diluting it somehow while still wet on the face.
Anyway i replied to this as like i said there most likely wont be many others (could be wrong)
Again id say google or yahoo answers your individual Q's

Hi thanks a million for you're reply. I googled the vitamin D one and discovered that infact yes, sunblock can cause vitamin D deficiency. I knew that the sun was needed to produce vitamin D in the body, but I wasn't sure if sunblock would prevent it completely or not. Although it is said that only a few minutes sun is required daily for fair skin.

I had googled my other questions before but just got told that sunscreen will work under foundation, but not which spf would take precedence, -like would I have the 30+ protection from under, or the spf 15 from foundation moisturiser?
I was hoping there would be a skin specialist about the place here,
however only yesterday I was flicking through Fashion and Appearance, and found another thread about sunscreen.
A poster in it mentioned that the higher spf would always take precedence so that's good news for my pale skin!

    Thanks again for reply,
    appreciated.:)

I think there was a problem in Australia with kids developing rickets as a result of lack of vitamin D. They were being so careful about using heavy duty sun screens to protect the skin, the kids just didn't get ennough Vit D from sunlight or their diet.

However a good daily dose of cod liver oil and the odd dinner of liver should see you right for your vit D! :D
