Your biggest disappointing show this season?

I may have made a similiar thread, i think....anywhoo, which show has just failed for you this season?, gets put under your "meh" catergory?

For me it has to be Flash Forward, i'd might say V but i knew it would never live upto the original and be a bit pants. But FF was hugely hyped..."the next Lost", again, terrific pilot but just fell apart after that.

What show this season has left you cold and why?

Flash Forward has held my interest from the start, and recent episodes made me glad I stuck with it.

I couldn't get into Caprica (I think I watched the first 2). As a BSG addict, it was a big disappointment.

Flash Forward, what a load of old tripe.

+1 my sentiments EXACTLY and my biggest disappointment.

I'd have to say Caprica. I think its just rubbish, I know its not BSG but I still don't care about any of the characters and the stupid V world thing means nothing to me. I don't care!

Same! I'm glad other people agree all my friends love it!

I think "Caprica" is a bit of an acquired taste - I like it a lot more than I initially did.

The biggest disappointment then is probably "Flash Forward", although I will say it's gotten a bit better since it came back and stopped being a total damned soap opera. Still won't really care when it goes (and ditto for "V" if it doesn't get renewed).

FlashForward for me too - thought it was going to be so much better and now I don't even bother following it week to week... just catch up whenever there's nothing else left to watch.

Skins definetely. Seasons 1 and 2 were so amazing, then 3 was pretty good, then this season was like "Whaaa?" Seriously, after awhile I just stopped caring, and just watched it to see how it would end.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭Hank_Jones

    I'd reckon Skins as well.

Was desperate last season as well.
Then they would throw together one episode that wasn't complete shite and I would think there was hope....

    No....still shit.

    Tonight with Craig Doyle.

I just thought with rté's track record of producing excellent chat shows with charismatic hosts and interesting A list guests that it would be riveting viewing! :pac::pac:

Flash forward for me also. The first 2 episodes were great. I started losing interest in the third but decided to give it 2 more weeks in case it improved. Half way through the 4th I lost the will to live and flicked it off. I havent watched it since.

It was so overhyped but I found it very boring and confusing. And there were far too many people introduced every week.

Well thats 3 1/2 hrs of my life i will never get back

i so thought "Craprica" would be good after BSG but then i remembered the ending of that series
V is a bit meh and Flash Forward i'll continue to watch to see what they come up with next but not my fave show by any stretch
for me the show of the season has to be Spartacus

    V has been very disappointing.

Also, Stargate Universe. The end of the season looks like it might pick up a lot but the first half of the season was a bit disappointing

'V' - very disappointing, I've all but given up on it.

    Heroes.

Just went completely down hill and the efforts to entice viewers to come back where even worse.
    Claire being a lesbian

Don't think I'll bother with the next series of it TBH.

Haven't seen Flash FOrward or Caprice.

24 is rather **** - and I hear it has been cancelled now

    No harm!

'V' also - I expected better! I don't even think it's a case of it doesn't live up to the original. The original was done at a time when it was an original idea and it was much easier to shock a TV audience. I haven't seen that since it was shown 20-25 odd years ago but I'd bet I'd think it's **** now! I expected the remake to at least be entertaining by today's standards.

I'm not being very original, but FlashForward it has to be. Forget the convoluted plot and ropey scripts, they've made the cardinal error of not creating one single likeable character.

V is crap, but I knew it would be.

Lost is not as great as I hoped, but the expectation was massive.

Can I say modern Family? I like it, but find it positively underwhelming.

I've pretty much lost interest in Gossip Girl at this stage.

Wasn't expecting much from V and I kind of expected Flash Forward to be 'Lost' by numbers too.

There's been a lot of disappointing shows this season..

'Lost' has had a few great episodes among plenty of medicore and downright terrible other episodes.

'How I Met Your Mother' is absolutely pathetic this year.

'V' is dire.. even the first episode back after their hiatus which people seemed to gush over was hugely underwhelming and ridiculous!

I stopped watching 'Flashforward' early on so can't comment!

Stopped watching '24' after the opening episodes.. lately, '24' tend to do a always do a great opening few episodes and then the season descends into mediocrity. This season started off mediocre so it wasn't a good sign!

'The Pacific' has been a bit disappointing.. but that's more because it hasn't gripped me like BoB. It's not terrible, but it's not fantastic either!

I was sure a new sitcom from Bill Lawrence would be injected with the same freshness as early episodes of 'Spin City' and 'Scrubs' but alas, 'Cougar Town' is a big ol' stinker.

While we're on the subject, 'Scrubs [Interns]' was absolutely atrocious too. James Franco's brother was probably the best of a woeful bunch of leads comedically. Even John C McGinley, Donald Faison and Ken Jenkins just looked tired of it all!

'The Office' really dipped last season.. but it's taken an absolute nosedive this year and is now unwatchable!

Was really looking forward to BBC's 'Survivors', but it really wasn't a patch on the first season.

Is there anything you do like? ;)

Flash Forward has improved, but I really hope it doesn't get renewed and they wrap it all up by the end of the season. Can't see me sticking around for another series of this.

V and Caprica still have potential but have been very disappointing.

Dr Who, only two episodes in but hasn't clicked with me at all.

    Still liking 24 and Lost.

Scrubs definitely disappointed this year. They should of just left it at the Season 8 finale.

I got bored a bit early on with FlashForward. I might go back to it if I get bored during the summer.

While many will probably disagree with me, I've stopped watching Grey's Anatomy a while back as I couldn't make myself watch it. It was probably just me,as friends said its better than a couple of season ago but I couldn't get back into watching it.

Shows I gave up on this season were Flash Forward after about 6 episodes, Dollhouse after 2 episodes and Caprica after about 5. I cant bring myself to give up on Heroes for some strange reason. I was always disappointed but I just kept watching the next week thinking it would get better.

V was my biggest disappointment - I've stuck flashforward out only because there is little else in the way of new shows worth watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

I'd agree with a lot of the above but I will have to go with South Park.

It feels like Trey and Matt aren't even trying any more.

I didn't expect too much from V or Flash Forward so although they were worse than I anticipated I wasn't too disappointed. I did quite enjoy the Glee pilot so was certainly disappointed as the series progressed. My biggest disappointment though was Big Love. Series 3 last year is up there with my favourite shows ever. This year however was painfully bad with way too much squeezed in and some crazily ridiculous plot lines.

What episode was terrible? I'll give you "What Kate Did" but no others - or do you dislike the flash sideways?
'How I Met Your Mother' is absolutely pathetic this year.
I thought "The Rulebook" was good but it is feeling to feel far more like a generic sitcom this year.
'V' is dire.. even the first episode back after their hiatus which people seemed to gush over was hugely underwhelming and ridiculous!
It was merely okay. Didn't annoy but didn't interest. Wouldn't be bothered if it didn't get renewed.
I stopped watching 'Flashforward' early on so can't comment!
It improved after it came back but it's too little too late.
Stopped watching '24' after the opening episodes.. lately, '24' tend to do a always do a great opening few episodes and then the season descends into mediocrity. This season started off mediocre so it wasn't a good sign!
Stopped in S6 after seeing the same pattern. Haven't bothered to go back.
'The Pacific' has been a bit disappointing.. but that's more because it hasn't gripped me like BoB. It's not terrible, but it's not fantastic either!
Kinda know what you mean. I'm a week behind because I'm just not feeling it. It's beautifully made and all but just a tad... dull.

While we're on the subject, 'Scrubs [Interns]' was absolutely atrocious too. James Franco's brother was probably the best of a woeful bunch of leads comedically. Even John C McGinley, Donald Faison and Ken Jenkins just looked tired of it all!
I kinda liked it at times! Seems I'm the only one...
'The Office' really dipped last season.. but it's taken an absolute nosedive this year and is now unwatchable!
It's still got decent moments but is a little tired.

Oh this is also my biggest disappointment of the year! What the hell happened with the fourth season? It was all over the place and far too many plot lines. They kept dropping some and picking others up and they utterly screwed around with the characters. Very disappointing.

In a lot of ways the first two series were a slow build to the third series which had more "action." The third series got a lot more notice than the first two, so I suspect the writers wanted to dive straight into another action-packed series without bothering to do any ground work or think things through properly. I also think the series missed Harry Dean Staunton a lot.

I don't think the actors liked it much either, if Chloe Sevigny was telling the truth in an interview she gave about it last month. (Though she had to apologise two days later.)
It was awful this season, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not allowed to say that! [Gasps.] It was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself. The whole political campaign seemed to me very farfetched. I mean, I love the show, I love my character, I love the writing, but I felt like they were really pushing it this last season. And with nine episodes, I think they were just squishing too much in .............................................................. Me and the girls [Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin] definitely were not very happy with where it was going—or more kind of, “We really hope it’s going to work. It seems like they’re really pushing it.” ..................................................................... I hope the fans will stick with us and tune in next year. There’s a lot of people who really love this season, surprisingly. God, I’m going to get in so much trouble.

Think Lost has been pretty good but I can see the Flashsideways as a big negative for many.

Smallville has been pretty weak esp with all the breaks. Though Caprica was good but no where near as good as BSG whereas Stargate Universe is starting to pick up and reminds me of BSG strong character development.

Heroes though has to be the big let down.

Comedy central show them less than 2 days later so I'm pretty sure they're up to date. I think they're all terrible, I'm sick of them taking some random news story/ current trend and making fun of it. It's not clever and it's not funny anymore. They're basically just Family Guy lite now (and I can't stand Family Guy)

Flashforward and V... Thought they'd both be epic, Flashforward is awful and V is watchable but nothing to write home about...
