Prices of flights

Am looking to book flights to the States for late December. The prices are mad though. I have gone away at this time for the last few years and I normally pay about 200 euro less then they are at the moment.

Does anyone know any reason for this?

Or does anyone know when American airline companies will put their flights for this time on sale.

Am really looking for insight from someone who works in reservations, etc.

Yeah. I noticed that prices are very high this year as well. Maybe double what they usually cost. EI was looking for about €2000+ to get to the west coast of the US. Continental was quite low, but I couldn't stand to fly with them again!
