Has anyone cycled from Carrigalin to Kinsale? How is it?
Also, are there any other shortish routes around those two areas which would be recommened..
im thinking of having a short cycle to kinsale and then onwards ....
    any advice would be great.

I've done it a fair few times. Have a look on google maps or similar to pick out a route along the back roads. Terrain is a bit lumpy but nothing too strenuous. Once you get to kinsale I'd recommend heading for the old head, beautiful scenery down that way.

cycling........!!!!!!! YOU WILL BE KILLED IF YOU TRY TO CYCLE ON THOSE ROADS... even driving from carrigaline to kinsale is risky...the speed limits are 80km so if you or when you get hit your dead.. those roads are old goat tracks with gravel and tarmac on them..

What are you talking about? I've gone that way more times than I can count and have never had so much as a close call. Just stick to the back roads OP and you'll be grand.

Nice cycle, roughly 80k. Carrigaline minane bridge, roberts cove, nohoval, kinsale and back. Nice scenery, but very lumpy roads. Better cycle is the main road to kinsale on to innishannon and back - roughly 60k. Nice roads but traffic is heavy, but no worse than any other main road

I did this yesterday :), Kinsale to cork road is a fantastic cycle, I wouldn't agree with Charlie, the road is no worse than any other of its like. Cycle wise and there is no reason to fear it, most times I drive that road I come across cyclists on it so belt away!!

I've done that cycle a couple of times, I'm still only a beginner and not very fit so if I can manage it, anyone can ;)

This is the route I do (I think thats it anyway), and I enjoy it.

I've cycled all those roads and they are fine. The R611 & R600 are very busy but I never had any problems on them.
You could pedal over to Ringaskiddy too and down to Passage - catch the ferry across to Cobh for 2 euro return (very scenic). Be sure to dismount getting on to the ferry or your man will ate ya.
And if you're feeling energetic do the hills of Cobh !

That turn right at the end of the town is fine. If you want a short spin, follow that road. After about 8k you will come to a crosssroads and take a left for roberts cove. In minane bridge take a left for carrigaline - all approx 20k ish. Can lengthen the cycle loads by heading on for roberts cove, nohoval etc etc. Nice scenic quiet roads, but lumpy and slow. Am from that area - loads of different routes. Enjoy
