Right im looking to buy this car soon enough...anything bad to look for in it cause i read on the internet that a few recalls were issued when it was first out...i really like this car and pretty much the only other car i would like to get is either the 407 or the avensis but i find the avensis like a big fat cow so thats a no no :D anything else there that is similar to this model?

Ya the petrol are a good engine allright and a good car otherwise stay away from the diesel though. 407 wouldnt touch it

wasnt even planning to look at diesels :) their too noisy for me :) yeah i know but 407 looks are just so attractive :D i got a 206 that im planning to trade in for it and peugeot isnt such a bad car as every one describes :) i mean when we got it 5 years ago ( its a 99 now) it didn't give one bit of a hassle till about a year ago... but then again which 10 year old car doesn't?

one main concern is the headunit :S it seems that there are 2 sound systems available for it and one is factory standard and the other is bose package with pioneer headunit which plays mp3...but has no usb port :( i use usb stick in my 206 with a usb stick to play songs instead of burning countless CD's and the new fascia for headunit dim costs 160 pound O.o and it looks ugly 2 :( thats probably the biggest concernmi have since im a big music fan :D

if you really like the car i think its a bit impractical to base your judgement on the type of radio.

sounds to me like you more looking for an expensive walkman. :D

well i dont mind i got an N97 and it can transmit music through FM radio :) but my mum will be driving it too and she likes good loud dance music and i burn her music on cd's not gonna burn 200 albums for her when you could play it on one mp3 CD :) and she aint got a phone to stream music into headunit :) hey a perfect touch to a car is a good stereo :) its the little things that count :D

I was thinking of selling my Mazda6.
Would have to agree that the factory head unit isn't impresive. The sound isn't bad but it doesn't play mp3 and is quite sensitive on bad roads.
Other than that it's the most reliable thing I have ever owned.

In fairness very few if any 03/04 cars in this range had mp3 readable cd players or AUX ports. Afaik a Bose sound system was available as an optional extra on some Mazda 6 models at the time.

The Bose system sounds fantastic, but still doesn't play back MP3's. Get an FM transmitter. All dance shyte sounds the same anyway, so just put in 1 CD on repeat play! :D

lol not to me :) i like a variety :)

found a nice one in Dublin 04 with lovely rims and 1 year warranty with a service :) so ill go take a look at it on Wednesday :)

yea i know at that time that was more like a the future but still would be cool to have...just as far as i read mazda6 forum i understood that some mazda's with the bose sound package have a pioneer that can play mp3 files...i found an add on on the internet that plugs in for one of your amp outs and you can use your existing steering wheel controls and etc :) it costs 60 quid but a worthy investment i think :D

another thing does any that owns 2003-2004 mazda6 noticed paint chipping off on the bonnet and rust under rear wheel arches and rear passenger door frame around the half window? cause seemed every mazda that i looked at today had more or less rust in the rear wheel arch.

None of these things are present on my car but i noticed some rust underneath the car when it was serviced. It wasn't there before winter so amount of salt used this year must have done the damage.
But I have heard of rust problems in Mazda6 in other countries where winters are colder.

well its not a hard thing to solve but its better to avoid it...depends how far has the rust spread too...like the top of the window frame where the window is split is something you dont see often :)

A better car than it looks too the Mondeo. The 1.8's are a good machine. The Mazda is a good machine too but the 1.8's in those can be a bit thirsty.

yeah i kinda did more research and seen that :) would have went for a 130 horse passat TDI but there was a problem with the oil level sensor and nct was ending + a big scratch on side...they said they would prep the car for NCT and fix scratch and the sensor but i just don't believe they will :D and time is running till my 206 will fall apart on the horrible roads of Roscommon/Longford...****ing pothole heaven...

i had a choice mainly of avnensis 1.6/the passat (lovely power out of that :) not one bit of acceleration delay :D loved that though too many tech problems)/ a primera but was badly scratched and the well looked after ex garda officer Mondeo ha-ha :D so went for Mondeo

    wonder can u get a turbo for a 1.8 zetec :)
