Could we change the law of Ireland?

I think it's become fairly apparent over the last few years that the Judges of Ireland are not really up to the job of dishing out harsh sentences when necessary.

I'd imagine that many Gardaì in urban areas are sick to the teeth of arresting the same people over and over again, only to see them being let off every time by a judge.

Having read the thread about the stabbings in Drogheda last night, and knowing full well that the scumbag cunt will most likely practically get away with it, do you reckon it's time we either completely revamped Irish law and the consequences of crimes or we scrapped judges for major crimes, instead opting for the public to decide what punishment a person must face? Something like that?

I'm so fed up and tired of hearing how scumbags have problems and need to be looked after and taken care of.

I mean... What do we actually need to do to completely reform our lawless little country?

That's a serious question by the way. what do we actually, in real life, need to do to have it revamped? Do we send angry letters to Govt.? Big ass petition?.

People have no fear of An Garda Sìochàna. Personally, I love AGS. I think they're a great group of people who, individually, will give it their all. However, as one big law enforcement agency... they're a laughing stock. They should be armed immediately (with knives, if nothing else. "If you can't beat them", and all that) and should be allowed to get more physical with anyone that gives them abuse or hinders them in any way.

So... what can we actually do? That is, of course, aside from turning a blind eye and pretending nothing's wrong!?

We don't have enough prison beds for the prisoners we have never mind saying add more.

You would have to build more prison's and hire more prison officers if you wanted to do what you propose. But this being AH, You aren't allowed to hire anymore people into the Public Service.

Sometimes AH strikes me as a virtual version of the daily mail.

Lawless Ireland, moral bankruptcy, etc. et al

Why do people allways blame ags, the judges, the Hse etc. None of them caused the problem it's our brothers our sisters our fathers our friends our relatives that cause these problems, stop blaming everyone else look in the mirror and see can you prevent any if it, it's up to us the people to stop what's happening, blaming anyone else is just a cop out!

Next time you see a criminal, don't call the Garda, call your friends and get them to bring some blunt instruments and sort the shoite out yourselves, the only reason that **** head in drougheda is gonna get away with is because someone let him, not the judges or Garda fault, he should be proper sorted before they even get him to court!

Old ireland is dead and gone it's with the general in the grave!

You organise mob to tackle criminals.

    Fewer criminals on the street.

    Mob wants to get someone.

    The polish took our jobs.

It only takes a few bigots to make a vigilante mob working towards a good, act like the criminals themselves.

That said, Heroin was more or less kept out of Cork in the 80's because of guys who went around with hurleys beating the living sh1t out of anyone dealing it, or taking it.

Too bad community no longer exists.

I think everyone wants the laws to be changed, but we can't. It's just the way it is. I wish there was some way for it, but if there was, something would have been done years ago. So I guess we just have to accept that Irish laws are s*it and just live with it. Or you could start taking the law into your own hand and do it Batman style.

I think mandatory minimum sentencing should be introduced. I think there are too many occasions where a criminal gets a much softer sentence than they truly deserve. There needs to be a balance in sentencing, however I think the scale has firmly rested on the side of the criminal.

Jaysis. The legislature writes/amends the law, ie the government.
We all have local TD's, if you have a problem you lobby them and get them to address the problem in the dail and push for change.

Thats the way this and every democracy works. B1tching achieves nothing, making the actual effort does.
