Getting my contacts off the iphone... without itunes

I'm saying farewell to my iphone, and I no longer have itunes (Apple don't provide it for Ubuntu).

The only info I want to get off the phone are my contacts, and I've tried google sync ( http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252) and itunes on another computer. Neither worked.

With Google sync, it set to fetch but no new contacts have turned up in my gmail account. With itunes, it only seemed to give me options to overwrite all the data on my phone (because it used to be synched with itunes on my laptop before Windows died and I replaced it with Ubuntu).

Is there any other way to get all my contacts off the phone? Any app that might just email me a spreadsheet of all my contacts?
