    About an hour ago after work I purchased some Nike Air Max from Footlocker on O'Connell Street.

    When the assistant came back with the shoes,he put a different gel insole in the shoe for me to try on that was smaller than the original and when I tried on the shoe they fit ok,a little tight but not too bad,he then told me the insole was an additional 30 euro on top so i said no thanks,he was quite persistent though but eventually he stopped.

    It then continued at the cash desk when he tried to put in new laces and shoe cleaner without me asking,he stopped again after i said i just wanted the shoes.

    Turns out with the original insole in them they are too tight and also the wrong size,i asked for a 12 which is on the box,but its an american 12 so a UK 11.

    Still have the receipt and they are still in their box,should I be ok to bring them back? says no refund without proof of purchase but i still have it.

    Check out the link to s.10 of the Sale of Goods & Supply of Services Act 1980. This amends sections of the old Sale of Goods Act 1893, which is still in force.

    There is an implied condition that goods match their description in this amended s.13 of the 1893 Act, as you can see if you check the link.

    You were shown shoes that fit. You were sold shoes that did not fit. Therefore, the goods didn't match their description.

    I would say that you should go back to the shop and tell those boys you want your money back. If there's any hassle, you can always threaten to sue them in the small claims court.

    Yeah,i think they work on commission in there so he was really pushing the sale but he got on the annoying side of it,very unhappy with this as you can imagine. I should have looked at the shoe but i do have my receipt and box,never worn outside or anything,so i should be fine.

    No offence but if you buy a dvd or blu-ray player you generally dont get a scart or hdmi lead! add-ons are where the make the most profit!

    and the 12 us was probably just a mistake! bring them back and get a bigger size but footlocker do it absolutely everywhere

    It sounds as if there was a genuine mistake made when they were getting your shoes from the storeroom. It's easy to misread a European size and an American size.

    Just go back to the store with the shoes in their original packaging and with your receipt. Explain that you received the wrong size shoes and ask politely for the right size. There should be no problems.

    Got my refund today,it took 30 minutes to get it sorted because the sales assistant wanted me to order them and wouldn't just give me my money back after i repeatedly said i wanted that as they had not got my size.

    He was really trying to act confused when he was at the till and then came this blinder "Oh iv made a mistake,iv accidentally placed the order for you and not the refund", I eventually had enough and asked him to stop taking the piss and sort out the refund without anymore delay.

    Serious joke of a shopping experience and i dont think ill go back to their ever again.

    yeah i have to agree there.any time ive been to foot locker ive found it really uncomfortable with the ridiculous pushy selling, its like running a gauntlet to get in and get out of there.

    i know a guy who started working there and lasted less than a month, he said they have targets on cleaners and shoe laces and the heel things and if they dont make the targets(- something like 40% of each sale for each thing, so 40% of people have to buy a cleaner and laces and the heels etc) that they get fired in probation. he said he found it horrible to have to be so pushy and the managers do be watching them to make sure they try to push these things. basically he said its as uncomfortable to work there as it is to shop there and he couldnt handle another min of it

    That's horrible :mad: No one (customer or employee) should have to put up with that kind of intense pushiness. Why don't they price the shoes and everything else with an appropriate profit margin? I'm sure that their aggressive salesmanship is putting people off. I know I wouldn't buy anything there.

    have to agree on this, i find it horrible to go into. like a deer stuck in the headlights. once i was there a guy was fitting my shoes, wouldnt size my foot and tried to sell me socks as i was wearing flip flops. i would understand maybe if they had a hygeine issue either offering socks or refusing to let me try them but he was just pushing selling socks for 6 euro or something:confused:

    anyhow when messing around with those ridiculous heels (which may or may not be good but the severity of there pushiness outs me off completely) a card fell out of his pocket, i picked it up for him and it was a target card for all these accessories for shoes and cleaners etc, there was a huge list of targets on it and crappy motivational quotes. he looked mortified that i had seen it and was happy enough to let me leave when it was apparent they didnt have the size i asked for. although they still tried to insist i try on the next size they had which was two sizes bigger with TWO sets of heel things:confused:

    so to finish, i agree with above posters, there extremely pushy and i would never advise even looking in the window of a foot locker unless you absolutely cannot get what you want elsewhere

    IIRC, Footlocker in the US 'encourage' their staff to sell multiples even if it's just some extra laces.
    I think FL EU are a different company... but i wouldn't be surprised if it's the same here.

    Yes, they're pretty pushy... and they don't really know much about the products they're selling either.

    Went in there to use their "Sneakerfinder" service one day a few years ago, to get some shoes that i knew FL Europe were carrying but some reason or other, no branch in Dublin was stocking. I was basically told 'we're busy, come back later'.

    Oh and they sometimes 'fib' about what shoes they have an exclusive on, rarely have sales on anything most people would be bothered with, and someitmes pad prices over and above the price Nike Europe place on shoes.

    Unfortunately they have a near stranglehold on the market in this country.

    Size? on Wicklow st are less pushy and more friendly, although they tend to specialise in slightly different kinds of sneakers.
