Does anyone know if this is a decent car or not, I cannot find any reviews on the new face lift tx model..

It has 7yr warranty, a/c, good safety spec, elec windows, abs, cl, full alloys and ipod/mp3 plugin in.
Have never bought new car b4 but seems good spec for small budget.
    Thanks
    Munster Mad

No ideas really but you can ask for opinions on the motors forum here on boards.

    Rec -> Motoring -> Motors

Theres a thread here on cars for scrappage prices which might give you some ideas If you want alternatives.

A Kia Rio diesel is the Anti-Car. I would really have to put it in my top 26 worst cars of all time. Looks crap, drives crap , is crap.

Dont fall into the " Its a a little bit cheaper so I get a new car and its from Korea so it must be good " trap. These things are rubbish. Sure it might give you 5 or 6 years trouble free motoring but so will a 2 year old Focus and its in a different league compared to this junk. Considering you'll buy and brand new Megane diesel for a couple of grand more on a scrappage scheme , I really dont know why you'd look at one of those Kias.

Airbags and ABS fitment don't automatically confer safety.

I would stretch to the Renault; a much safer and modern motor (and i'm not normally into french stuff).

While the Cee'd is a reasonably good car by Korean standards, the Rio is old school stuff, and the saloon looks like an upturned porkpie hat.

You don't see a huge amount of privately owned Rios on the roads (they are normally rental jobs with the mismatched hubcaps and '353 car rentals' stickers. That says a lot about the car. It's an automotive white good, completely devoid of character.

Save € now, but you'll regret it later.

    Avoid.

Don't think that's true of the newer Kia models. The C'eed would be a better buy IMO than a Megane reliability-wise. Then again the C'eed is close to Megane, Auris et al in price.

You get what you pay for. Rio would be pretty crap alright...

May very well be true but to be fair, the ceed was designed and built specifically for the european market, and is a very good car, the rio most certainly was'nt. Even at the scrappage price, they are a very poor car

Depends on what you're used to and what you want. It's one of the last cars in the world that I would want to own, but a guy at work replaced a bag of sh!t Almeara with one on scrappage, and it's a better car than the old Almeara, €104 tax and excellent mpg and 7 year warranty. What more would a non-car nut want? Some people can't tell the difference, so if you can't, then why spend more?

Well, in this case specifically, i would say resale value and probably safety. Just a get-what-you-pay-for kinda thing IMO :)
