Just read on Golf365 that Rory is thinking of taking a long break and not coming back til Wentworth. Wonder if this will affect him keeping his US tour card?

Whoever is advising Rory - Chandler and Co - should be sacked. They're ruining the kid completely.

He's a kid and for the past 3-4 months has appeared as though he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He seems under so much (needless) pressure, doesn't seem to be enjoying his golf at all.

Instead of trotting off to sit down with Rotella he should listen to Tiger Woods' comments last night and 'just go play golf'.

He's only been on tour a wet day really, but is already so caught up in winning and playing perfect golf that he's crippled under the weight of it all. Some terrible decisions been made by him (for him?) over the past 6 months.

Chubby as far as i remember told Rory not to join the US tour yet.

As far as i am aware, it was Rorys decision, and probably fueled by all the questions from the media.

Watching his interview on the BBC after yesterday's round I felt a bit sorry for him, as was said above, the pressure on him is enormous, and as he said he needs to just start playing the game again for the reason he started it - enjoyment. If he does that then the results will come naturally and he'll never be short of a few bob.

I admire his honesty though. He could have waffled like Harrington and put a brave face on it, but he didn't. He admitted he has a problem, is going away to address it, and will come back when he's done so. Nothing wrong with that at all. Harrington said he played well but just didn't get the rub of the green, well what about last week? I think he should maybe look deeper at his situation and take a leaf from McIlroy's book.

exactly Mister, that's pretty much what he said in the interview. That he's not enjoying playing golf and he needs to get back to a place mentally where he can go out and just enjoy it. "whack it find it and whack it again like when I was younger" in his words

something strange with mcilroy, thursday he speaks about a new trainer ('[head' guy, whatever)who's helping with putting and the whole lot. friday he's a golfer who's freightened to do what rory mcilroy can do. my thought is : get rid of this 'head' guy and bring the rory mcilroy who surprised the world with his golf(2007 class). the guy who said that im the same,if not better than harrington or mcdowell.

What? Harrington always offers an honest and insightful opinion on what went wrong and what went right during his round.

Sorry but I think thats absolute rubbish. Harrington is perhaps the most honest player on tour and all commentators frequently praise his openess and honesty. Where you've gotten your assesment of him is beyond my comprehension.

If rory needs to do anything its to learn from Padraig, who is perhaps the most mentally tough person in the game.

Harrington picked up an American Writers award there during the week so the press obviously appreciate his efforts.

Maybe his sore back has something to do with it......maybe he needs time for it to heal.

Not sure what to think about this. Rory has had to adjust to a game that was easy and fun to one where it's a job and there are lots of very talented players who struggle. There are lots of distractions and lots of people who want part of your time and money. He needs to listen to some of the older guys who have done it all before - they have nothing to gain but to pass on their knowledge; the rest generally want money.

Maybe he just wants time to himself to practice and to work out what's wrong - sometimes the best thing to do is to find a quiet spot and to listen to yourself and not the conflicting views of others.

How worrying it must be that a guy of twenty years is having such issues with his back. He may have to alter his swing to ease some of the pressure he's undoubtedly putting on it.
