    hi yas,
we just done a few gig in norn ireland and they only charge 2-3 quid on the door, down here 10 lids for some events is too much, 5 yo yos bigger crowds and all that any views- venue prices down south are still a rip off

Do you have a question or is this just a rant about gig prices?

If you dropped door prices from €10 to €5, I don't know how much extra business it would generate.
I go to see a specific band, in which case I'll pay what the rate is (begrudgingly). If the prices drop I'll be happier to go and see "my" bands, but it won't necessarily make me any more likely to start dropping into venues randomly to watch other bands.

In the scheme of things (i.e. paying for public transport in and out of town, travel time, cost of a few pints etc.) a few quid difference at the door makes damn all difference to me.

    Yeah, a tenner is nothing.

Very few people would change an evenings plans based on 5 quid.

I personally think venues should all charge 10 and give all bands a minimum 100e guarantee.

    And they should publicise it.

People would be happier to pay the bands than a pub/promoter.
