Wait..... i'm not entirely sure how this works but you pay 1/3 of the capital, 2 other bands pay the other 2/3.

You get 15% back, i'm presuming the other bands get 15% too.

The promoters get 55% of the revenue for.... what exactly? Knocking up a few posters?

Yeah, it doesn't sound like a great deal to me but it might depend on the kind of promotion that gets done. If they can guarantee a big crowd then the takings at the door would be pretty big.

same thoughts as us, but we always join up with another band or two , we bring our crowd , they dont bother and we always loose money, at least this seems to restrict our losses and even get some money. she will also try to get a crowd becaouse 55% of fXXk all is even more fXXkall.

But you see, what you're saying here is you're the attraction, you're the band on stage, you're bringing all "your people" etc. And you're still worrying about losses.

Whereas these promotors are actually paying nothing because the bands are paying. They have no fear of loss at all.

I understand if you guys want to play and 15% of nothing is still nothing, i just don't think it's a great deal. If someone asked me to invest 33% into something for a 15% return, i wouldn't be happy.

true, but you dont have the risk, also its more hassle to promote, they will do hot press, thumped and on their site

eh? sure cant you do that yourself for free? plus what risk? if they are making you and the other two bands basically pay for the whole deal, then wheres their risk?

would depend on how much it is too, eg some might only charge you 100 which is really nothing between 4/5 of you but some charge 3/400,

id say do it if you can afford it, also youy will just be playin to your own friends, if you wanna play make friends with bands who have their own gigs in places like eamon dorans and support them

sounds like a sham to me, they don't hafta front any money but still get over half the profit? and it doesn't really matter if theyre puttin up ads for gigs if theyve no marketing angle, you can be the best band in the world but some ****ty little ad isnt gonna convey that to a punter, i see posters and stuff in hotpress all the time and dont pay a blind bit of attention... i can only assume its the same for most others
