I'm wondering about the rules. Can you bring people back to stay the night? i.e bring a hot girl back for a ride.

Every resident is allowed to have one guest.

So you plus your three room mates = 4 guests allowed stay in your appartment. You just gotta make sure to walk through the gate with the guest, cus if security is there (after midnight), you need to show your key and say "this is my guest".

Much handier than on campus, where you need to sign people in like before noon of the morning they're staying over or something.

Ah i see.

Is security always there after midnight? Also is there parking inside Shanowen gates?

Hypothetical situation... I'm out and meet 2 girls. One I like and we hook up and she agrees to come back but only if her friend can too. I turn up with 2 guests, at 4am in the morning and flash my key. Would security turn me away with the two girls or would I get some leeway at that time if we were all sober?

Haha excellent.

Well it really depends on a few things.

1 - What night it is. Security are more lenient on the lesser drinking nights such as Mondays. On a Thursday he'd be on the watch for people coming home from clubs.

2 - What time you come home. The later, the more likely he'll be to let you in with two. Between 12 and 2 is when he does the most patrolling.

3 - Your relationship with security so far. Security is done by one guy (called Massy) and its possible to get to know him. We had a good bit of leeway last year from him.


You'd need to be nice about it all too. If you can't get both in by yourself, just ring one of your roommates to come down and get the second one in.

Remember too, if your guests are in before midnight, they won't be checked. So after parties and stuff you can have as many as you like stay over as long as they don't draw attention.

Shanowen is far better for guests than Campus Res, trust me!

i am thinkin of applying for shanowen next year.
few questions.
1:is it first come first served or do you just apply and hope for the best like with campus res.
2:where do you apply.

1: Not entirely sure, but you shouldn't have much of a problem either way. I don't think all the apartments even sold out this year.
