For me its chris jericho followed closely by kurt angle.
jericho has it all for me charisma, great in ring ability and a great gimmick while you just have to admire the ability of angle

    whos yours?

For me its CM Punk the guy has been simply immesnse in his role on Smackdown over the last few months, and is the main reason i still watch WWE

    +1.

Even though I'm frustrated by how they book him sometimes and other guys (Jericho etc) put on a hell of a show, what he's doing is utterly compelling.

Randy Orton comes a close second.

Instead of just naming out random guys, let's have an official rating system and go by that
The three categories generally used to judge a wrestler are 1. Look, 2. Ability, and 3. Mic Skills/Charisma
    General Guidelines
    For Look, Batista = 10, Rey = 1
    For Ability, Angle = 10, Khali = 1
    For Mic Skills/Charisma, Punk = 10, John Morrison = 1

eg So if I was rating Edge I could say 1(8), 2 (8), 3.(8), Giving him a total of 24 out of 30

    Alright,

I'm picking Punk (remember, 1 nation under Punk) so going by the ratings above, Punk, to me, would get 1(7), 2(8), 3(10) so that's 25 outta 30

you really think edge had 8 for look and rey rey 1

    you are missing stuff

match quality, over-ness, ability to sell tickets/merch (surely the number one factor)

    Chris Jericho
    Look: 7
    Ability: 9
    Charisma/Mic Skills: 9

    Total: 25

    CM Punk
    Look: 7
    Ability: 7
    Charisma/Mic Skills: 9

    Total: 23

    Randy Orton:
    Look: 10
    Ability: 6
    Charisma/Mic Skills: 9

    Total: 25

Umm this system has Jericho and Orton as equal. I still think Orton will become the biggest star in the WWE.

unless there's anyone outside of America I don't know about, the correct answer is Randy Orton.

Is a wrestler's look really relevant to how great a wrestler he is? I would probably go for Edge right now as he seems to deliver when I watch him.

Edge has always been one of my favourites even if people did hate him a few years ago.

Batista. Nobody has entertained me more in wrestling the past few months.

If he gets into gear soon enough, Randy Orton will be the best in the world. He has been borderline for a while now. I'm worried that with his babyface turn, they will turn him into a full-on babyface, with the whole pg thing. He was getting cheered when he acted like a heel. Kinda like Austin, and thats never a bad person to be compared to.

For me its Jericho and Christian (even though he not getting much of push on Raw lately and he is on the skinny side :p) in WWE and Desmond Wolfe in TNA

    Probably Punk or Jericho.

    Probably Punk or Jericho.

I agree with that, I also love Jerry Lynn, and the work he's doing over in ROH

Some people I love: Orton, Cena (yeah yeah :P ) AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels (TNA were tools to let him go), Jericho, Edge, Kane (always have a soft spot for him though), Hernandez.

I have it really hard to pick just a single best wrestler.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

All round, its probably Randy Orton. Hes been incredible.

Best wrestler is still Danielson IMO, just because he hasn't been given the platform eoesn't mean he jasn't the skills.

KENTA before his injury in Japan was pretty peerless in terms of match quality as well.

Davey Richards is probable King of the Indies right now.

    My picks -

    Raw - John Cena
    Smackdown - CM Punk
    TNA - AJ Styles.

If I had to pick one, I'll go for Punk

But I didn't think too much about their look, WWE must think all their guys have a good look or else Vince wouldn't let them on TV.

A lot of people saying Randy Orton, am I the only guy who hates him?

I hate his entrance music, his lack of charisma, his emotionless facial expression which never changes, his mic-skills aren't great, the way he treats people including WWE fans, and the way he treated a certain Diva or two (Remember Rochelle?), and the fact that he wasn't punished after he failed a wellness policy just because he was either the champion at the time, or feuding with Hogan, I dont remember exactly

    Yeah, I think you are:D
I actually like his theme song, in fact I think it is one of the best in WWE and is absolutely perfect for his character. The emotionless facial expression has more got to do with his character than anything else, since adopting the "Viper" gimmick he has basically had to rid himself of anything which suggests he is human, he is supposed to be a complete psychopath and smiling, grinning etc doesn't fit in with it
Orton was definitely a buck in his youth but they say he has changed his ways, apparently marriage and becoming a father has made him a new man. He has had loads of backstage behavioral problems in the past and has been suspended, but surely everyone deserves a second chance

Yeah i see where your coming from, you might have pursuaded me a little bit! Actually i just edited my earlier post because I realised at the end of the day, he is a great in-ring worker, and that is what this topic is about - best current wrestlers!

His moveset is pretty basic but the way he carries himself in the ring is just phenomenal, he's one of the best storytellers around and definitely the best move seller I've ever seen

Best wrestler?! Well that's easy: bret "the hitman" Hart

He's the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!!

    You know it!!

    So that covers that!! ;-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

The right answer is Chris Masters.
Any other answer is lowering the credibility of the board.
