What are your veiws on a communist style health care system, if you were a doctor would you defer the treatment of a public patient moreso than a private patient?

They might want to sort the health care system out first.

Before they start giving it away for nothing.

I'm so glad that I only had to wait 27 hours to be looked at...as I didn't have to pay...

In theory it would work very well.

In reality, the health care system here is so **** it's going to do nothing more than kill thousands of people eventually due to hugely increased waiting times which are already killing people.

So even thought some of us might be able to pay for good heathcare, we still wont get it. Communism .

There was a proposal put foward a few months back requiring everyone to have health insurance - The cost of it would be set at a flat rate. So, because everyone in Ireland is covered by this insurance, hospitals only way of competiting is on quality of service and waiting times. That is just an outline of how it works, there would be rules in there to make sure that everyone can afford it

Don't we already have a pre 1990 Eastern European style health care system?

Tbh, if you ban private healthcare here, rich people will just hop on a plane and go abroad for treatment, as happens in Canada.

The people this would screw are the middle class.

How is having free healthcare for everyone communist?

The British, the French and the Swedes have it.

They also want to ban private healthcare, so even if you can pay for you're own treatment - you can't.

This is different, it's banning private healthcare. And the only thing that does, is put those who can afford private healthcare at further risk, while those who can't afford it will be subject to longer waiting lists for operations.

Nobody wins, it just screws over everyone.

because "sensible" isn't quite as scary as going "COMMUNISM!"

IMO if a person wants to pay for private health care, they should be allowed.

So the IMO whose members are very well paid propose banning private health care, ain't that hypocritical of them?
