    Can't wait...!!.....

It also stars load of people from X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.
Love those shows.....and the people on them....

Meh say what you want about the films but they have an audience and the money these films make is used to finance more substantial films. Smaller films get a chance because the bigger more audience friendly films make money

I loved the first movie, the second was pretty cack....but a third, in 3D

    :(

Duane Adler, get back to writing your dance flicks!

"putting Adler in a unique category – as author of two of history’s five top-grossing dance movies, and of the top two highest-grossing teen romances"

I watched the first a few weeks ago with my gf. I was very cynical before. I have to say though, I wasn't expecting that much cheese in one film. I laughed the whole way through it (don't think I was meant to).

Now everyone knows that 3D makes things better. Throw in a scene where the main guy is frustrated because no one a) understands him b) ever gives him a break, or c) believes in him, and then have the guy takes his frustration out in a dance, ala Kevin Bacon in Footloose and I'm there dude :D.

ha that reminded me of something.

Over in Thailand last year there was a group of us chilling in a beach bar in Ko Phangan. Step Up was the afternoon movie that was on.

We were a bit on the tipsy side so started clapping and hollering at the cheesier bits in the movie..... pretty soon everyone in the bar coped the joke and was doing the same :D

When the end credits started rolling everyone there started clapping and shouting as if it was the best movie ever seen....... some even gave it a standing ovation. The poor thai's didn't have a clue what was going on, but obviously thought we were all very impressed.
We all thought it hilarious until we realised that it had backfired..... Step Up 2: The Streets came on a few minutes later

So, i JUST watched it there now...i'm a fan of the franchise, i adored the first movie...seen it multiple times, the second was pretty cack imo....save for the hotness that is Briana Evigan.

The 3rd was a step up, no pun intended...the acting and plot was woeful, but these movies are about the dancing, well at least they are since John Chu took over. Liz mentioned box office, it's true the US box office was the least to date...BUT, worldwide it took in almost $159 million!, as such it's now the most successful and a fourth movie is coming out 2012.

There were two scenes in particular that stood out for me, this being the first:

Fantastic scene!....but i have to praise the next scene, first off it was THE best part of the movie by far, second it's one continous take (they filmed that scene 19 times over), it's just an utter joy to watch and put a big smile on my face.

First for showing the joy of dancing, also because it's very old Hollywood, an homage to Gene Kelly/Fred Astaire. Also you can tell both actors truely enjoyed doing it, it's just an utterly cute and adorable scene:

:) - many critics praised it's use of 3D, it wasn't "converted" in post either, it was filmed from the get go in 3D + the second only movie to use 7.1 surround (along with Toy Story 3), many have said it was the best use of 3D since Avatar.

The dance sequence are fantastic, the acting and plot/story is paper thin, but you know going in what to expect. John Chu seems to be the top of the pile for these dance type movies, his work on the LXD is fantastic as well.

    98 mins well spent.

I've been going through the reviews on RT, and the majority mention and single out the one-shot sequence as it's highpoint: http://www.weekinrewind.com/2010/08/step-up-3d-movie-review-2010.html

"We go from hip-hop to tango to one of the best moments of the film and one of the finest dance sequences in a film of the last few years, a jazzy dance sequence all filmed in one shot that provides one of the few honest and heartwarming romantic moments in the film."
