As a matter of interest how many would still consider insuring their car with Quinn after this?

If ye saw Primetime lastnight the story was basically that Seanie Quinn was taking all the money paid in to his company in insurance premiums and instead of doing the right and legal thing  and putting it aside for claims he was throwing it in to Anglo (and the dotcom bubble before that) to make a quick buck out of shares....

My insurance ain't up for a few months but if Anglo or government (i.e. the taxpayers, us again) "decide" to bail him out Im going to move my insurance.

Might be a small gesture but one that would make me feel better.

And now Anglo are tossing it back. Back and forth it will go until there's nothing left.

At least the regulator may refer this case to the Gardaí and charges may be brought and perps may go to prison.

    We can but hope...

You hear that Anglo? Bears, you're putting the whole insurance group at risk!

Sweet baby Jesus. Somebody shoot somebody. That is surreal.

A failed bank get public money and they give it to a failing insurance company. I'm just waiting on Jeremy Beadle to jump out from behind a potted plant.

Wow. The state-owned bank is now proposing to take over one of the country's largest insurers.

I don't know which to feel - disappointment that the socialist revolution is coming about in such a flawed way and without public support, or schadenfreude that Seanie Fitz and other market-worshiping hacks have brought it about.

On primetime last night they were saying that Anglo would put in 700 million but also that the State (i.e. taxpayer) would have to bail out the bondholders in Quinn insurance to the tune of 4 billion. I'm not joking.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that Quinn owe Anglo something to the tune of €2.6 billion.

So basically Anglo are trying to recoup money by taking a large percentage in a failing company...

    Genius...

I've moved to axa. And for reasons I will not go into, I of all people should stay with Quinn. Just one point to bring up about Sean investing premiums in Anglo, insurance is a loss making business. The only way to make money is to invest it. He just did it wrong. Too much money invested and a bad investment. Simples.

Sounds like a solid plan. After that we can buy bebo back from AOL. They'll take less than half what they paid for it.
    Quids in!

Whats the crack with the bloody bears?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Cherrycola

Im not surprised Quinn has all this money to throw into Anglo, considering we all pay huge insurance premiums and then never claim on it when we need to for fear of our premium rising even further!!!

Its a win win situation for insurance companies in Ireland, we all buy it, but hardly any of us use it! Great business to be in!
