    Hi there,

Does anybody know what the legal tasks are to register to get married? My fiance and I are living in Australia but we are both Irish and getting married in Ireland. We have been in Oz for 3 years now.

I'm not sure of what steps I need to do to organize the legal aspect of getting married. Any ideas?

    thanks,

    Laura

you need to contact the registrar and make a postal notification of intent to marry.
depending on when/where you want to get married 3 mths may not be enough time.
I booked my wedding in Jan by phoning the registry office in Dublin, asking about dates, setting one. Then they sent me an email with the postal notice form which I sent off promptly. Because of being abroad in addition to the 3mths and the date we wanted it was 4.5 mths from time of notice to the wedding.

Ring the HSE registrar (births marriages and deaths). They are extremely helpful and will tell you exactly what needs to be done.
