Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a cheap battery powered amp for an electric bass that would be suitable for busking?

    What wattage would be needed?

    Thanks.

We have been trying to source this type of product for ages. All we have been able to find is little clip-on belt type amps. I did come across a 10/15w battery powered amp which was perfect but no longer manufactured.

If anyone knows of any please let me know.

The Roland Microcube Bass RX should do the trick.

I don't have much experience, but there was a group of us borrowed this amp (I'm reasonably certain, anyway!) for busking with a bass that seemed decent.

I know it's marked as a guitar amp, but we borrowed it from a guy who uses it for a bass regularly, and he hasn't had any issues with it not being marketed as a bass amp

Just read about these amps today. Think it'd be ideal

    bb blaster bbpm20 http://www.jhs.co.uk/bb_blaster.html

Not sure if they're available yet, but worth a look see. 20w is fair powerful

id go with the Harley Benton as above
    http://www.thomann.de/ie/harley_benton_hbac30.htm
its built like a tank, 30 watts, 8 inch speaker makes a difference, and its rechargable, 4 hour charge give 8 hour play. Its a bit heavier than the roland which is a consideration when dragging your ass around town from one pitch to another but a little shopping trolley affair sorts that. Its half the price of the roland and blaster. I have one and our bass player regularly uses it for practice when he comes over to my gaff. :)
Actually you're welcome to come over to me, im in kilmainham, and plug into it and get an idea what its like, if you want

I've seen buskers use the Pignose Hog 30 before. Dunno where has them, but I'm pretty sure that I've seen them in the past in Goodwin's and Perfect Pitch.
